High tech Redneck

My wife just bought me a new laptop computer the other day and while trying to learn how to use it I downloaded the Chairgun thing. Last night I was fooling around with it and found myself completely clueless. So I went into our chat room here on the GTA for some advice. Some of our members suggested that I go to "You Tube" and watch a tutorial on Chairgun. So I did, and it was very informative. Then I went back to CG and tried to remember the stuff I had just watched and apply it to what I was looking at on the screen. I already had most of the needed information (from previous chrony work and such) to plug into the information boxes. Well, after fooling with it for quite a while, I finally decided to just try what it suggested and see what happens. So, this morning I set out a target and resighted in to the optimum sight in range as per CG. Then I moved the target to 100 yards (measured with my Leupold lazer rangefinder). The top target shown below was my first attempt. I just shot a bunch of pellets using the holdover as recommended by CG. I couldn't see where I was hitting except for a few shots. When I walked over to the target to inspect it, I was surprised at how many of the shots were on paper, And one of them was a bullseye. So I made a second attempt with a little more confidence and concentration. The results of the second attempt is the bottom target shone below. I was shooting my Diana 48 in 22 cal. and the JSB 18.1 grain pellets. The wind was a little gusty and variable, but not too bad. I think further experimentation is in order. I have a few other guns that I would like to include in this experiment as well.

100 YARDS!!! Right off the bat.

You got guts.

I started out at 50 yards or shorter. I chrony at the muzzle and then at 30 yards. I figured out the BC of each gun with the pellet and then twigged Chairgun using this data (manly just the BC) and now Chairgun is right on now.

Now I will take on 100 yards, however my groups are nowhere as good as yours.

I only hit 12 ga shotgun shells (thanks Ted) about half the time.

Now that my kids is grown and gone I don't have anybody handy to teach me how to play with my toys. I usually end up doing things the hardest way possible. 8 year old kids would probably laugh at me. Nowadays nothing stays the same long enough for me to learn how to use it before it gets out dated.

Could some explain to me what exactly a "chairgun" is. I thought at first it said CHAINgun... Then I saw the spread of shots and thought "What did this guy BUILD?!?!"

My CZ 200 will shoot 100 yards…………… if I aim real high and the target is real big.

The little chicken (wind vane) on top of the barn is safe, but the window below it may not be.
