The Air Arms S410 Extry FAC 22 cal air rifle ....performance at 70 yards

I have recently acquired...on loan from a good airgunning friend, the above mentioned rifle. It was not firing when you'd cycle the bolt and pull the trigger. When the trigger was pulled, you'd hear the hammer release and lightly smack the valve stem. I opened it up. As easy as a Marauder to do. It was gunked up with whatever Air Arms sent it out of the factory with in 2003. The hammer would barely move on the stem that it rides on. Long story short. I cleaned that sucker up until the hammer would free fall on it's stem. Fill pressure on this gun for a good string is 150 BAR!!!! That is remarkable!!! The last air rifle that I had that was similar in fill pressure was the Discovery (my first PCP). I get 26 shots with an Extreme Spread of 32 fps. If I cut it down to 21 shots, the Extreme spread is around 21 fps. It shoots 18.1 grain Exacts at an average of 908 fps. Starting at 890 going to 920 and back to 890. This is awesome! The refill pressure is 110 BAR! This is the oldest PCP that I have ever held and shot and I am impressed. Accuracy is awesome as well. The Daystate Huntsman (18.1 gr Exacts at 880 fps ave) MAY slightly edge it out in accuracy at 100 yards. But STILL....908 fps? velocity nuts like me eats this stuff up. I like fast!!!! No shame in my game in THAT department!
Anyway, I cleaned the bore really good tonight with Breakfree CLP and a nylon brush wrapped with a cotton patch. The bore was full of black gunk. Immediately after cleaning...I aired this gun back up. You should see the fill probe. It looks like a HUGE female foster fitting!!! It has a reducing adapter that ends in a male foster so I can hook my Hill pump to it and happily pump away. Doesn't take much to get that rig back up to where it's ready for 20 or 26 more shots. depending on where I quit pumping. After the refill, i filled the clip with 10 18.1 grain Exacts. I walked my target and a small LED flashlight out to my 70 yard oak block and leaned it against it. I walked back and took a seat and started shucking pellets toward the black circle using the first mil dot. Here's the result:
The Silver 1942 quarter in the pic was dug by me after finding it with my metal detector last friday. Moments later, I hit another high tone. Excited that it might be another quarter, I plunged my spade into the ground to extract my reward. I was rewarded with a face full of cold water. Right in the ol kisser! Pretty high pressure too. It blew it up my nose!!! lol Glad my plumber is on speed-dial! The water was actually travelling through one inch schedule 40 PVC pipe. But the metal that my detector picked up was the big chunk of old sewage pipe that the plumbers who plumbed the house used to put UNDER the PVC pipe to keep it level before refilling the trench. Now....how was I supposed to know all that!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!! Y'all have a good night!!

This is getting out a hand. I need to moderate my airgun fixation. From now on......just one a week. No more! (Unless I find a good deal)

Another very enviable gun and a cool/funny story about the water line.

What a Hoser !! .... Funny stuff right there with the water line.
Good shooting rifle that likely shoots even better on a more stable rest !
Good job on the refurbish, hope guns your now to keep ?

Thanks guys. I have an option to buy this PCP. He said that I can use it during squirrel season. That'll give me some time to build up some cash.

I'll get a pic up tonite when I get back from trying to kill a buck. The rifle has no safety. Blued shroud and airtube. Walnut stock, but real dull finish. That sucker, as you can see, is very accurate. When a rifle can print 70 yard groups like the above....it passes my test. I get a pic up soon though John!!! I hope you and yours have been doing great man!!!!
