do you think the 303 caliber will catch on for airguns?

recently Daystate has decided to make a 303 caliber PCP air rifle, The Wolverine and has had JSB make 303 caliber pellets for it, and im wondering if the caliber will spread, and if so how far.

i would think that eventually it would catch on, at least for PCP air rifles, since not everybody is gonna have $2700 to buy The Wolverine.

but im also wondering if its possible for the caliber to spread to Springers, since there are some out there that can shoot a 25 caliber pellet at a decent speed and achieve decent ft lbs, and a 303 caliber pellet isnt monstrously bigger.

at any rate, it will be interesting to see what happens.

Not too sound the Alarm .... Just my thoughts about BIG BORE air guns in general.
Only a matter of time until somebody pervert enough uses one of these high energy Air Weapons to take a life ... Soon as this happens, And it WILL happen, The cat will be out of the bag on how off radar AG's and PCP's in particular are viewed by the Feds.

When this go's down it won't just be about Big Bore stuff but a trickle down to ALL AG's and the power they develop.
One only needs to view MANY other countries and there laws governing Foot Pounds energy of Non Powder air weapons !! 

Sadly the "IF THEY BUILD IT .... THEY WILL COME" ideology is true ... Just a matter of time before we ALL get shut down by the POWER chase of this unique hobby.

besides, a .303 in an air rifle (at least a cheaper PCP operating at lower pressure or a high quality Springer)  would probably be far from capable of killing a human anyways.

Sadly your INCORRECT .... HVLP or LVHP can make near the same energy levels, just different tunes doing so.
As it is now at the current PCP velocities, the 3 common small calibers are already capable of this

at any rate i would love to see more .303 pellets come out, and more air rifles that would take them cuz i imagine many brands could capitalize on the idea, and the extra ft lbs and pellet weight would be great for larger would be pests (foxs, bobcats and whatnot)

I see the .303 caliber at being pretty useless, Hi Power .25 will do anything a .303 will do, than we go to .308 that is a much better choice since it's a bit more of a jump from .25 and there's literally tons of cast bullets out there to buy, even .357 has much more of a choice of cheap ammo out there,....No I don't think it will catch on.

What we DON'T need is a lack of standardization.... LW makes .30 cal barrels, and they are 0.308" bore, 0.300" land and take bullets sized to 0.308".... The DAQ Exile is also .308 bore.... There are lots of bullets in that caliber, and sizing dies as well.... IF (and I say if because there is still a question about it) the Daystate requires pellets that will not work in a .308 bore barrel I think it was a huge mistake for JSB to go the the trouble of making them.... A much better business decision, IMO, would have been to make pellets to fit the barrels that are already out there, and make Daystate toe the line.... They can call it what the want, but there should only be ONE standard size for .30 cal pellets/bullets....

I would say it will be limited to daystate
I personally think .25 will continue to grow and become the norm  ( at least in PCP)
look at the new haley in .257  it is making over 200 FPE with amazing long range(200 yards) groups
the korean .25's are pushing over 80 FPE
the Condor in .25 is making over 100 FPE
and the Mrod in .25 is making mid 40 pretty easily and they all shoot WELL in the caliber..  they buck the wind better
They make better pellets for hunting due to more knock down power... and when ya Whack a target with a .25 ya know it and its FUN!!!
so imo 303 will eventually fall the way of the daystates .223 airbullets did
and .25 will take over

If the .303 is actually a .308, well that it has already cought on and there's nothing new

.25 it's already pretty big for springers, .308 will be a bit much IMO

No, you're right MH.  And you don't need a firearms license to get one of these either.  I want to keep it that way and hopefully the idiots will continue to somehow get their mitts on powder burners rather than our preferred hobby tools!

i have a question....is the daystate 303 a true .303" or is it the british 303 the same as the enfield rifles? because the 303 british round is actually a .311 or .312 caliber bullet, not .303" so if it is a .303" pellet, it may well work in a 30 lw with a choke

If you note, the actual diameters of airgun barrels are usually something that has no counterpart in the firearm world.  The real problem comes from companies making airguns using firearm barrels and then people starting to make "accessories" for them.  It's all downhill from there, which is why this 303 kind of worries me if it catches on.
