My .177 caliber Xisico XS46U with gas ram configuration was purchased from Flying Dragon Air Rifles. I ordered the XS46U later in the evening on Oct. 2nd and the rifle arrived Oct. 5th. The XS46U is kind of heavy, sort of loud (the pellets??), and was more difficult than I expected it would be to cock, but the cocking got easier as the day progressed and I developed a routine. The pellets I used today were Crosman hollow point, and the 4 tin assortment of Gamo pellets. I think the assortment of Gamo pellets fell short but I'll reserve judgement till I become a more accurate shooter. In regards to the pellets there wasn't much else to choose form here in Bedford, IN. I'll not post my shooting results for the day lest I get ridiculed for my terrible accuracy. I think my problems with accuracy are not because of any short comings of the rifle but are related to inexperience in air gunning. I had hoped to provide an assortment of pics but all I've got today is one... I got wrapped up in shooting and neglected to take any more pics. Please dont mind all of the junk in the back of my car. In case anyone would like to get a closer look of a particular part of the XS46U let me know and I'll take a picture of it and post. All in all I like the XS46U and imagine I will like it even more as I become more experienced with air guns.

I have been planning to buy one just like that recently (from Mike as well). Any tips on how to order? I don't want to cause any issues, nor am I experienced at using Paypal.

On other picture notes, how does the underlever cocking work (to see a pic of it fully brought back), loading, etc.

Yeah, pellet selections in the Kentuckiana is pretty slim.  I order from P.A. (buy 3, get 1 free).  I Save up and buy 12, and it's worth it by the time you pay S/H.   I have seen a couple Wmarts that have the Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum Pellets (CPUM).   That gun may like a heavier pellet, as its a heavy shooter.  Keep posted, and again Congrats!    Mike

I have the .22 and it does light heavier pellets. I hav tried 4 different pellets.

In order of accuracy at 20 yards

Jsb extra jumbo: very consistent. Rare flyers. Tight groups. Often hit in the same pot.

CPHP ( cheap Walmart): very consistent. Occasional flyer.  Quarter size groups. You can tell that some pellets have larger heads which are usually the flyers

RWS superdomes: not very consistent. In 5 shots 1 to 2 flyers. The other shots hit accurately. Flyers usually 1' off target in Ramdom direction.

RWS H-points: least accurate. I group 2 of 5 shots. The other shots have Ramdom poi.

I got mine a couple of months ago and have maybe put 300 pellets through it, mainly Walmart Crosman to break it in.
I didn't get the Nitrogen Spring conversion from Mike, just went for the lube-tune.  I am still wondering whether I should have just gone for it right from the start.

I am still learning to shoot it, but from 15yds I am pretty consistently hitting matchbox cars off the rails of a trailer.  I always do far better shooting at three dimensional targets rather than paper, but my paper targets seem to show a lot more flyers than I get with the Matchbox cars.

I always shoot freehand and have been working on my technique.  It seems to be better, but I still am not satisfied.  I haven't really played with different pellets since right now I am sure my technique is the biggest source of variation.  Still, if someone finds "the pellet" for this gun I will buy some right away to try.

I am thinking of just going ahead and breaking it down and doing a home tune.  I would like to soften the bounce of recoil by working on the spring (flattening the ends) and just verifying that everything is clean inside.  I will probably do some sandbag shooting before and after the tune to verify that I made things better.  If I am not satisfied after that, it will most likely be back to Mike for a gas spring conversion.

svhanc how are those crosman pellets fitting in the loading opening?  Inconsistency in the pellet size might affect your accuracy.  If they are loose trying a fat tapered punch or even a pen to flare out the skirt.

Here are a couple of picks with the underlever pulled back and the chamber where pellets are loaded. Keep in mind that this air rifle is my only frame of reference when evaluating recoil... that being said I think the recoil to be a bit strong, its certainly not painful or anything like that but you definitely feel it.

    Please keep in mind that the following is only my opinion and is intended to help you choose between the spring
version and the gas ram.
   I purchased a slightly used XS46U with the gas ram conversion. Had to see what they were about.
In order to launch a .22 caliber pellet in excess of 800 fps. takes a lot of energy. The gas ram used in this Conversion
is strong and when purchasing one of these you will need to remember this a large gun with a strong ram. The shot cycle
is strong but smooth. The cocking effort takes some real effort but again is smooth as is the trigger. Because of the increased
recoil it is (for me) harder to shoot accurately. I'm not a magnum person so decided to return it to spring power.
I increased the diameter of the spring guide for a nice snug fit. Otherwise all the parts used are original and were
purchased from and kindly provided by Mike with his usual friendly and helpful advise. Thanks Mike!
  The gun is now a real pleasure to shoot and should be much easier to shoot accurately. It takes considerably  less effort to cock and is still smooth to shoot. This is my first under-lever air gun and I'm finding it to be much easier to cock and load than
the side levers I've owned in the past. The fit and finish on this gun is very good and should make anyone happy with their
purchase.

I have a BAM in .177, and it likes JSB Exact 8.44 gr. pellets.  You're going to have to spend some time with the way you hold it - loose and relaxed - but given plenty of shooting time, you'll be hitting where you aim.  It can be frustrating shooting powerful springers, but it's well worth the time spent.  Good luck, and have fun. Its only going better with time. the more you shoot it the better it be. So dont be surprised when you start putting shots in the same hole. it will happen. The gun will amaze you
