To SHO or not to SHO

So we are 2.5 months away from the US Field Target Nationals and they are being held at my home club.  I will be shooting in the piston open class that allows upto 20 FPE.  My TXHC is currently shooting 11.5 FPE with the current Vortek PGE2 tune.  And it shoots very well.  However, seeing the new SHO kit from Vortek has me seriously considering this option. 

I'd appreciate any comments from any that are using the SHO in their TX.  Particularly if you have it in a TXHC.

Hey Mike .
I just ordered one for my 98.
It comes with 5 spacers so you can remove or install to lessen or increase fpe.

Mike, I was thinking about the same kit for my HC. I installed the previously released HO Kit which is producing a fast shot cycle and it settled in at 12.7 fpe. It passes the pellet on the scope turret test easily but that faster SHO Kit has my attention since I take my TX in the field a lot for pest control. Funny thing is I shoot this Vortek HO Kit better than the low powered Maccari (which was very smooth).
It'll be interesting to see what you find out about the comparison of the two kits.

Passes pellet on the turret test, no real diff in cocking effort from 12 fpe kit, 960 plus fps.  Amazing.  I had to use a new tx piston seal .... Read the post.

That .120" wire spring coupled to the rather stubby low mechanical advantage under lever equals quite the effort required getting rifle into full battery.  DON'T LET IT GO ONCE COMMITTED .. Doing so your going to get some busted fingers !!

Shot cycle VERY SMOOTH but with a very noticeable SNAP being a lot faster lock time than previous VT or MC kits or factory set up.

Scott, thanks for the report on that SHO Kit. It sounds like a winner for the TX series but I'd be hesitant to drop that in a Pro Sport due to that extra stress on the cocking linkage.
