1950's Challenger Arms Co., "Plainsman" .22 CO2 pistol ......

Picked up one of these on Craigslist, can't seem to find much info other than the "Bluebook."

Seems to be in pretty decent shape but will only hold CO2 long enough to get off about 4 or 5 shots. Gas is leaking out the barrel, loudly when you first install a gas cylinder but only for about 8 or 10 seconds.

Any chance anyone knows anything about these guns and is there any chance there is an airgunsmith who is knowledgeable enough to re-seal one?

I like the gun and would really like to get it up to snuff!

If it were me, I would call Ron Sauls at Bryan & Associates. Ron has been in the business a very long time and knows lots of things. He would be a terrific resource and may know who can do repairs on the gun. BTW, depending on condition, the pistol may be pretty valuable according to the Blue Book of Airguns.

Thanks Breakfastchef, that is 1 of 2 places I thought of. Can't imagine too many folks have had the opportuniy to work on these since there doesn't seem to be a lot of them around and there is even less info available about them.
