1377/22

So I'm looking into buying a 1377/22 pistol. The low price and mobility make it very attractive, plus I have heard nothing but good things from them.

Only question is what caliber would you guys recommend? I know the .22 travels significantly slower then the already slow .177.

Also what type of mods/upgrades are available for these little pistols?

then if a flat top piston and valve.in simple terms your .22 cphp going 420fps at 10 pumps will jump up to 520fps,a 100fps is the usual gain but every gun is different so ill say 40fps(the lowest i have read about) to a 110fps(the highest i have read about).in my experience 70-100fps gain at 10 pumps with various 1377/1322
the triggers can use some work.i upgraded my trigger to a two stage p-rod trigger group.a fluff'n'buff to the stock trigger and searand lighter sear spring also help
look around the crosman/benji gate you will see all kinds of different set ups from mild to wild

Make sure you also change the pump arm pivot pin.  That is the most frustrating piece on mine that has been fully tuned and not replaced.  Also, I would add something to make it quieter.  Once you get into the higher fps ranges, my .22 is getting close to 600, it draws attention.

Back to your original question, I would recommend the 1377. That way you can have cheaper pellets, and if you want to upgrade to .22 later on then just buy a .22 barrel, steel breech, and a .22 bolt. That would basically be like having two guns for cheaper than the starting price of most guns. I recommend .177 because you can buy the pellets at your local walmart, theres a greater choice of pellets, and the velocity is higher which is better for plinking. If you are thinking about pest control though just go straight for .22, although I have killed some birds with a stock 1377.

I would get both there pretty cheap and you can get used guns if you dont have the money.As far as mods go there is the flat top piston and valve, a longer barrel will boost you fps up too. Custom triggers, heaver hammer springs hollow bolt probe, lighter trigger springs will all improve your 13xx shooters. Check out the link you will find all you need.
