" Can a pawn capture diagonally two spaces on the first move? "
I have searched for an answer for that question and havent gotten an answer. the pawn can move forward one or two spaces on the first move and can capture diagonally one space, but on the first move, two spaces diagonally ?

Well I know the pawn can move diagonally to capture the opponets piece, on any move, first, second or third ect., but he can only move two spaces on the first, but again, can it be diagonally to capture a piece on that first move.
the player was a young first grader who suprisingly knew how to play.now someone suggested "en-passant " , now he may have been confused with that move. Maybe he was taught that way, I dont know. but in my limited knowledge of chess, I have never seen or heard of what he did.
en-passant only happens with the pawns against one another, but never a major piece, in this case , a Bishop.
The two space diagonally capture from of that pawn was not a legal move, either in standard or kids rules of chess.

En-passant definitely causes some raised eyebrows
