Also, I've casually asked this before in other threads but do you (or anybody else) know when Diana stopped stamping the logo and switched to the cheesy laser etching?

Not sure but i think about 2 years ago they quit dating them. mine shown is stamped 07 86 its hard to read have to use a magnifiying glass. but i used it as i was shootin it and read his post and just used it for reference . Hope that helps you guys out

I always knew where the date was stamped since I bought my first Diana back in 1986.

I have 1 question for you. Is your safety a FLIP or a PUSH on that air rifle???

It's a little "flip" switch.
It goes into safe automatically and then you flip it up to shoot, you can also turn the safety back on without having to re-cock the gun.

Can you post a pic of the safety on the flip switch all my diana guns are push in to fire or pull back for safety.

Look at the Filing (1985) and Issue (1987) dates but the M34 started in 1984

mine says;

stamped date 08 98, serial # 01177236, made in Germany

and;

"DEUTSCHE BUNDESPATENTE" and "AUSLANDSPATENTE" and next to it is US Pat. 4649893

NOTICE THE; US Pat. 4649893? meaning the (USA)

Assignee: Mayer & Grammelspacher DIANAWERK

and mine has a PUSH safety

Hey guys,
My bad....the above closeup pics are from my Diana pistol
Markings are so similar on these guns that I had to take a closer look and I just noticed that, I had all my Diana pics lumped into one folder on my computer, sorry. Now it's definitely time to reorganize it.
Funny thing is that the Diana pistol has no safety at all, you cock it, load it and shoot.
I was thinking of my old Diana 52 with the flip up safety.
