Substandard Disco ?

That's what my Disco .22 is, - strictly factory since day one & still is, - using primarily CHP's. Accuracy has NEVER been a problem, a tack driver. - As suggested maybe it's the barrel, ....

Some folks will not like this, but I do believe standard Crosman barrels seem to have an accuracy limit, at least for longer term averages.  But it is not a bad average..probably close to 1.2-1.4MOA.  That would be about  .27-.32" (5-shot) at 25yards.  Just have not put together sets of 5-shot groups that would average much better (but that's a whole lot better than the 2.0" groups you are experiencing).

Best "other" barrels will see .6-.8MOA (call 2/10ths at 25yards).  Not a &^^&-load, but enough to measure and it stays pretty consistent.

Have kept 3 running on standard .22 Crosman barrels (two on 24" and one shortened to 19"):

Rifles:
Discovery 3-9X
2260 HiPac 3-9X
2250 HPA 4X



Targets:
Only have 22 yards to play in.



The little HPA carbine's 4X scope is a limitation to paper punching, but I like the field of view.

This is about as well as i can get Crosman barrels to shoot...and it is honestly plenty good enough for whatever practical use intended.


So...if I were you, and nothing suggested here woks, would play the Crosman barrel lottery and order a new barrel or two.

I have to disagree with the statement of accuracy limit on the Discovery. I have 2 that shoot very well out to 50 yards.

With a little work most people can do at home you can improve the accuracy .

I  polished the inleade, re crown with a brass screw, and used JB bore paste on the barrel. After that find the right pellet your barrel prefers and you might be surprised at what they will do.

last weekend shot this group of 15 shots at 50 yards with JSB exacts, no sorting or lube.

Sure not all barrels will perform as well as others, but at the price Crosman charges for a barrel why not buy a few and give them the once over.



A few weeks before I shot this group of 10 shots at 50 yards but the conditions were perfect! no wind and my friend had a Caldwell rest for me to use.

Have you slugged the barrel and looked for tight or rough spots ahead of the choke? Anything unusual?

How are you shooting to get your groups? Offhand, prone, from a bench rest? Have you tried letting someone else shoot it?
