Gamo Silent Cat Tune Questions

I have a gamo silent cat .177 that i'm pretty pleased with. I want to do a tune on this gun and I have seen people posting recommending the E-3650 spring for this gun. Is this the same approximate power as the stock spring, because I hunt squirrel at long range with this gun and I don't want to lose power with the tune.
Really all I'm looking for is a better trigger, charliedatuna in the next few weeks and installing myself, and I would like to reduce the twang, although it has smoothed out considerably from what it was out of the box.
I'm mechanically capable and will be building a spring compressor and looking to buy a good replacement for the factory spring, however I got the gun last Christmas and probably have about 1000 pellets through it. Could I just reuse and tar up the factory spring and use the polished washer stainless steel washer between the face of the hat and the bottom of the piston lubed with moly trick and call it a day?
If not, then what spring would you recommend as a replacement for the factory gamo spring that would retain factory power levels? I use 9.6 gr gamo rocket pellets and the 10.5 gr crosman premier domed pellets in this gun because I once had an 8 gr crosman premier go supersonic out of this gun on me. ( I suspect dieseling from grease getting around the piston seals) which is the other reason I'm wanting to tune the gun. (replace the piston seals)
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

The E3650 spring should give you comparable power, perhaps a bit less, but if the stock spring is giving you good FPS levels I'd say just take the rifle apart, debur and lube, change the seal if required, install Bobs trigger and give her a whirl.
The pellets you're using a bit heavy and will take their toll on the spring over time, but if they work for you in your hunting efforts I can see why you use them. Just keep in mind you will be changing springs sooner than you would if you were using mid range pellets.
I'm sure some of the other members who have a lot of tuning experience will chime in and give you their advice.

If it was easy it wouldn't be hunting it would be shopping.

Yeah, I know heavy pellets will wear a spring, and light pellets beat the snot out of the piston. It's just that those two I named above, have been the two that maintain accuracy and lethality out to 50 yds for me out of my gun. With lighter pellets the groups just open up past 30 yds. In my gun anyway.

Springs are something that will have to be changed sooner or later anyway so if those pellets work for you then shoot away. I have a couple of springers that shoot the heavier pellets exceptionally well and give me more FPE when hunting so in those guns I use the heavier pellets also.

Brother Jeff has given you great info the E3650 spring and the New Gamo Tesla piston seal will work fine in your Gamo. Good prepping/tuning of the action will go a long way with the new spring and seal. Using tar on the spring will dampen the spring twang some but a good fitting spring guide is the way to go. Too much tar on the spring will end up getting slung off anyway. With my tunes I use very little tar due to the use of a custom delrin guide. Jeff also touched on the point of using heavy pellet's but if your shooter likes em as far as accuracy then the choice is always yours but it will shorten the life of the spring. Ed
