Dang GTA Forums! Now I've got a 1077!

Too much time on the internet gets me in trouble every year about this time.  Usually it's firearms but this year it seems to be airguns.  First it was an underlever springer and scope and now, newly arrived yesterday, is a 1077.  I figured out this morning what about 6 million folks already knew - that thing is an absolute blast!  Surprisingly accurate at 15 yards, at least plinking offhand at cans.  You really can roll a can around the yard with it.  They were right - I'm gonna need a gross of pellets and CO2 cartridges.  Trigger took some getting used to but it's certainly doable.  Feels (surprise) like a long double action revolver pull, but it's predictable.  I'm going to shoot it over the chrono just to see what it does, although it won't make much difference - what it is, it is.

Of course I had to have it because my spouse equivalent hates house sparrows in her bluebird boxes and starlings in the eves and she's afraid to shoot even a 22 or 410 single shot if I'm not around.  So I got her a sparrow gun of her own.  I'm a saint, huh?  Considered one of the youth springers but this will be so much easier for her to master and enjoy.

Now it'll probably have to have a scope too.  And I sure wish you could still get the Air Scource kits for them.  What a great little rifle!  -WSJ

OK, stuck in a new CO2 cartridge, shot first 12 to 'warm up,' shot next 12 over chrony.  Average was 477 fps with 7.71 gr Gamo match.  I did not calculate SD (my aged chronograph doesn't have that feature and I didn't write the individual velocities down).

Anyone with comparisons with same, similar, or lighter pellets?  Suggestion for a pellet/weight to try?

My 1077 shoots the Crosman Destroyer Ex pellets accurately. They are inexpensive at Wally's. I've taken starlings and ground squirrels out to 20 yards. Buy lots of pellets. As you are finding out, it's a fun gun to shoot

Wish you hadn't made this post.  I have been trying to resist buying a 1077, convinced myself don't need another revolver action, have a Cros. 357w.  Thought I had some resolve, put the 1077 out of my mind.  Now you went and stirred the pot, you rascal.

What can I say?  It's a gift .

Now if I was buying one for myself I'd have to get the wood stocked one . . . .  Just thinking out loud you understand.  -WSJ

Lots of luck finding a wood stocked 1077.  Discontinued many years ago.  Last one I saw on internet went for about 150.00 I think.  But they do surfice every now and then.

Whew, right you are!  I simply assumed the 1077W was still available because it popped up at several retailers on a google search.  But of course they are unavailable when you go there.  Gee, one more thing I should have bought when it was available.
