Restoration: 1966 Sheridan Blue Streak

I recently finished a restoration of my first Blue Streak. The is a terrific .20 vintage rifle. She is a 'bicep builder' for sure as pumps number 6-8 provide a good workout. The stock was refinished; internals cleaned, lubed and resealed; and some bare areas of the barrel and pump tube retouched. The rifle will push a 10 grain pellet at 685 fps at 8 pumps. There is a dimple on the muzzle. I chose to do a light recrown to ease the flat area cause by the damage.

I removed the temporary red dot sight and replaced with a standard rear open sight. I have a Williams Peep on the way, but have not decided if I will mount it to this rifle.

Any special tools required? I am picking up one from Shadow that needs re-sealed and I want to avoid sending a partly torn down rifle to Mac1... even if I send it to him, I can get some mods done. This is to be a shooter; my old one will not get modified.

While you're talking high force needed for the last pumps, I've been toying with the idea of sleeving the pump. Then I saw Tim's 'Extended Billet' mod. Lengthens the pump arm about 6" or so from the pix posted on the site. turn around will make me nutz...but I am sure it will be worth it...

 FWIW----I had to use a lathe countersink to completely remove just such a muzzle hickey on a 1st series Silver Streak. Didn't take much metal removal but it became the most accurate Sheridan I ever owned and I've had a bunch!

 Mount the Williams peep! They are a 'marriage made in Heaven'! Stock up on the ammo it likes and when times get really hard you can put plenty of protein in your diet if you have no food prejudices.   Tom

Yes. All Sheridans require a special valve removal tool. B&A Associates sell them at a fair price.

Thanks, Tom. I recall you mentioning the countersink approach to barrel crowning on the green. The only countersink I have is too wide. I went the Dremel route and finished lapping it with buffing compound. The flat is reduced, the gun is pretty darn accurate, and I stopped the process at that point.

Six coats of Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil. Terrific stuff!

very nice, i have a 70s streak in nice shape , they are good shooters for sure , and great for hunting small critters , tempted to have mine steroided ,m but it does a great job as it is
