Short morning hunt

Took the day off form work to go register cars and trucks, but since I was awake before the tax man I thought I’d pay the dairy farm a little visit. The birds were in several of their favorite places and since they hang around there so much they are starting to get wise to my approaches and hiding spots, so today I mixed it up a little. I changed my shooting position to a different location and 180 degrees from where I usually shoot. The birds were a little slower moving today but I did scratch out a few.
Because it’s been awhile since my Big Cat has seen any action I decided to give her a go today. All the shots were between 35 to 45 yards and when the pellet is properly placed the little .177 has plenty of power to anchor the birds. Most of today’s shots were Texas heart shots and they really proved to be effective. But every chance I had a broadside shot I would shoot for the point where the wing attaches to the body and that was shutting them down in hurry too. I did have 2 fly offs this morning and I had to cover about 300 yards to recover on bird that just didn’t want to give up the ghost but I finally collected that bird as well. I really need to order the gold trigger for the Big Cat to make it a better shooter, I purchased one with best intentions of putting it on, but the Remington Summit was shooting so good I decided to install it there to see I’ve I could squeeze a little more out of it and I’m happy I did. Who knows if I can get everything done today maybe I’ll give the Summit a go this evening.
