Just springs??
«

Hey guys, I installed a Vortek drop in spring and Pro 28 seal in my RWS 34P. I just wanted a more reliable spring than the factory. I am not a target guy, my rifle is for hunting. Any one just swap out springs?

Recon73,
I recently replaced the stock spring in my Diana RWS 48 with a Vortek "drop in factory equivalent spring", not the "kit".
Brought my 48 back up to speed and so far [maybe 500 shots] is holding up just fine.

I only have around 300 rounds through my rifle so far. Power seems better than stock and acurracy is great. Still room for break in..

So how tight did the VORTEK stock replacement springs fit the factory guide? Are they tighter fit that the factory parts???

I swap out springs more than buying spring kits and I have found the Vortek springs do fit the factory guides of some rifles but not all, but the ones they do fit fit very snug! and work great! and if not I have a buddy make me a custom fitting guide for the spring I want to use and that's how I do most of my tunes along with the other work involved with tuning an airgun,

The spring fit the factory guides real nice. I am in the process af having a steel spring guide machined from Vortek for their springs. I don't like plastic gun parts, so I spoke with Tom about having one made.

I swapped out a Maccari ZRT kit ( Spring, Guide and tophat) in my D48... Higher FPE (20 before to 23 FPE after), Stronger shot cycle, but very linear. It did do a number on my centerpoint scope that was on the D48. I had to change to a Leapers 4-12 and then a stronger one piece mount and then superglue all bolts and mounts..
I had an early version of the VORTEK kit installed into my R9, it was amazing...until it wasn't.. The power after about 1000 pellets went down about 30%...The shot cycle was smooth still though. I took it out and then replaced it with the original spring and guide and gave it a good polish and lube tune, it shoots back at 13.2 FPE again...A tiny bit buzzy but very, very accurate.
I put a high power kit from VORTEK into a Diana 460 in .22 that I had. It got 27.5 FPE initially and then settled in around 25 FPE. It was a great shooter, I still don't know why I sold it...
I am trying to learn how to make spring guides right now. I enjoy working on my air rifles..

I replaced the spring in my 34 plus a little more. I put a JM spring , seal and lubes in. Plus I deburred everything and glued on the old school buttons. I had shot the 34 about 10 shots prior to the "tune" and it was a bit harsh and buzzy. Now I have just over 2k through it and she is VERY smooth!! Just love shooting it. Yes I put a little more tar on the spring than I should have but I wanted real smooth and NO Twang!! JM delivered on what I needed.
I am thinking of the Vortek kit for my 48 just to see what it's like.

their suppose to keep the piston from tilting during the cocking cycle and aid in liner travel as the the piston gos foreward and makes it all feel smoother,
