I see most UK guns have the letters "FAC" behind their designation, what do they stand for? Thanx

Fire arms certificate, because in the UK airguns that shoot above 12ft/lbs are considered firearms.

 In the UK they must have a firearm certificate for air guns above 12fpe, maybe Google it for the actual rules and definition.

It stand for "Firearms Acquisition Certificate" and is the only way you can own a firearm legally in the UK or any weapon that produces more than 12 ft/lbs of energy.

Canada used to have FAC license, but we renamed it to PAL ( Possession and Acquisition License ) Any airgun over 500 FPS is classified as a firearm. Used to be subject to registration as well. Till we removed the long gun registry. Air pistols are limited to 500 FPS, unless you got some Olympic range only pistol or want to be stuck using a air pistol at a range and register it.

True what your saying over 12ft/lbs is classed as a firearm in England and Wales and Ireland , In Scotland you have to have a 12ft/lb on a licence and good reason to own the rifle i.e land or club , I believe in southern Ireland Eire all airrifles on a fac and naturally they are over 12ft/lbs .

We are fighting up here a new bill. Bill C71 that will effect airguns as well. Effects everybody but criminals.

Been trying to get airgunners to vote against, being that many are like. It only effects firearms, so what?

This new bill is another registry ( after removing the old long gun registry that was a waste of money ) and because In Canada airguns are firearms over 500 FPS. Thus rules apply.

Dealers will need to be required to keep a log of the guns they sell, and sellers would also need to call in info, get a reference number and give it to the buyer and they will call to complete transfers. A head ache.

I hate to say we won't. Not enough seats and both readings of the bills, It passed. 2 parties against 1.
