Titan GP

I'm some what new to the whole air gun thing after shooting powder burners for years. Post here a few times in regards to my Beeman and hard cocking effort. Now the Titan is acting up, shot on Sunday outside thanks to nice weather and after about 20 shots all of a sudden the groups started dropping. I'm talking 6" down, try to re zero the scope and ran out of adjustment. Not wanting to bottom out the scope I removed the shim that I had placed on the rear mount due some slight barrel droop and put it under the front. No luck shot pattern all over the place and low. I am thinking the seal is gone...this is the only thing I have not torn down due to the fact it's been shooting great. The Beeman is dead on after tune and lube my two custom 2240s shoot great after many tear downs and custom work so...any one have any ideas? Traded scopes with the Beeman and the Beeman shoots fine with the Titan scope (4X16 Centerpoint) breach seal looks good. How much preload on the Titan do I need to fixture it up to tear down? As always thanks guys!

Out of curiosity, what Titan GP do you have? -- The older Crosman or the newer Benjamin? I've shot about 750 .22 pellets through mine (model: BW8M22NP) and I've had no problems so far (knock on wood). In fact, mine is quite a tac driver.

Go through about 100 rounds and see what happens. Mind was tight for the first 50, then went askew, but then started tightening up again. These guns are notorious for have hit-or-miss quality. If yours doesn't clean up in 200~300 rounds I would exchange it for another.

I had this "Exact" same problem. If I was betting your barrel is not locking and your barrel is angling down. I talked to crosman and they sent me a new spring and live jam for free. I just got it today but havent put it on yet. I was told this will fix "Our" problem. Plus brass washers.

Interesting because the Titan locks up tighter than the Beeman but I'll give them a call ans see what they say and get a new seal kit just in case. Anyone have any ideas on tear down on this model?

My Titan loosened up a bit after 5500 shots. The bolt the barrel pivots on was a little loose (never had brass shims).
A little locktite and were back in business. at about 6500 shots now and still nailing the 50 yard cans offhand.
I'm happy with it.

Try the 'Library' link above and the 'Search' feature and Google and Ask.com and YouTube and etc. Good luck, as I've never torn a springer apart just yet -- and I'm interested in this thread. Also, it may pay to send/drive it to a professional in your 300-mile radius, if there is one. Again, good luck.

Yes the internet and forums are great. I've torn down and done my Gamo Big Cat my Beeman RS2 and both 2240's and getting ready to do a 38T seeing as the reseal kit from BA was in the mail box..Thanks!!!The Titan is a Gas Piston and I was just wondering if I needed to set it up in the spring compressor and the amount of preload that was on it. Thanks guys been into this for about 5 months now and I'm up to 6 now and wanting a RWS 48 oh man.....

Haha -- I hear ya, man... At 34, I've been raised around powder burners my whole life, and only a couple pellet guns. Last summer, my doberman started going nuts about the taunting red/fox (I've yet to research the difference) squirrels up in the trees in the back. So, last summer, I said, "Eff it, I'm getting a high velocity pellet gun." So, at WalMart store, I bought the .177 Crosman Storm XT for 110 bucks without researching. Then I started Googling and ended up here on GTA -- with a minor addiction

if you already eliminated the scope as the problem, make sure the barrel pivot bolt is tight. thats the first place to start. with only 1000 rounds through it its possible it needs a seal but i got almost 5000 out of the first seal in my titan. i think it all depends on the junk in the compresion tube from the factory as to how long the oem seal lasts. there is not a lot of preload on the ram if you take the gun apart but you wiill need to compress the ram to get it put back to gether
