OK we have another 12 pics. mostly showing the tools I use for doing the cutting out of the part of the stock where the action goes , as you can see I still use the same starting location , and the stock is still in the square shape that is the sides and the top we need these for working off. The last picture show's me marking out where the groove is for the cocking linkage as well as the cut out I will be doing with a table saw as we go into the next steps. we will shape them after the action has been put into the stock and is able to be fired. I think the pictures are much better than I can describe. Howie

Howie,
This is great! I see what you mean about leaving the outside all square until you get the inside like you need it.
So the reference points you are working off of are the back of the slot where the action goes, and I guess the two top smooth edges on either side of the big groove that you routed? So you work everything else off of them?
And I like the way you put that hole in the top of your table saw so that you could bolt the router to the bottom. Very nice!
Thanks for sharing all this with us. With all the good pics, I feel like I am there with you.

Hi it's hard to tell everything with words but pictures help to let you see that is happening I am in the process of making one of the stocks in the first post, and some of the pictures are from old stock work I had and I will post more pictures as we go along building this stock ,I have over 900 pictures of the air rifle stuff I've done . I went to school for Photography back in the 1960's but I never ended up as a professional photographer . I ended up going into the constriction trade with my father he was a union journeyman by the time he was 18 , at 4 year apprenticeship , my grandfather was a master carpenter as well as a cabinetmaker too, and I learned from them the old European type apprenticeship. I will be 74 next mo. and have been it carpentry most of my life. Maybe this post's will help some of the member's build stocks a way of passing on some of the woodworking. Howie

Most excellent Howie and a BIG thanks for sharing!!!!
I have some black walnut boards I've had for almost 30 years that instead of making bedwood for my 49' Chevy pickup it may go into making gun stocks.
Your posts will be my study guide for my projects. I just need some good marine grade glue and a few more clamps.
Keep em' coming.
Happy Shooting!!!!
