Got me a micrometer!

Well my wife got me a cabelas gift card for christmas so i went to cabelas and got me a micrometer and lead melting pot! First thing i did was measure almost all of my 22 cal pellets and almost all of them turned out to be close or the same as what pa listsed them as! gracious right! I did find out that the ftt/fts 14.66 gr pellets that shoot best out of my guns are the 5.54 head size. At least thats the ones i have and they shoot good out of my 350 mag. Will have to order the same head size as the 15.9 gr jsb and have a show down.
The lead melting pot will be awesome for making fishing weights. Me and my son usually use a propane torch to heat about 8 oz of lead at a time. Now we can do 10 lbs! Thats alot of fishing weights per batch.
Now i just got to get a scale. The ones there were $70 and up! Thats nuts.

I hope you got a gage block or something to calibrate the mic. Any mic or caliper upon purchase does need calibrating, as they can be up to .004 or so off. If you want to be particular that deviation is alot. Even the Mitutoyo and Browne and Sharpe calipers and mics I get need to be calibrated, either analog or digital. .002 can mean alot when it comes to tight tolerances!

Great addition to the airgun accessory collection, and something I consider an essential!

Lucky for me i can get it cald at work. I have a cal lab and can take my torque wrenches and now my micrometer or anything else that needs cald.
And just messing around yesterday i found out how much of a difference .0005 made when it came to pellet sizes converting them to mm. A .2185 is 5.54 and a .219 is 5.56 was surprised that far out made shuch a difference so i had to measure them all again.

Good job Badd....know the feeling when it comes to perfection. Worked in a machine shop myself where I get a piece of clean paper to clean the mics, putting it in the mic, slowly but not tightly closing it, then pulling out the paper to clean it. Had fun tearing up my Brown and Sharpes analog calipers where working with screw machines &^^& falls on the teeth and then I got to clean her up with isopropyl and then need to check again the blades with gage blocks. Pain in the arse but tight tolerances were the norm so accuracy had to be there. Kinda hate the Chinese stuff, but got to use what you can afford. Give and take, you know?

Congrats! Don't you love getting the tools and anticipating the projects?
I use a Lee Precision powder scale. Cheap and good. Of course a better one will cost more, depending how easy to use you need. I think the Lee is very accurate though.
