New Diana RWS 34 Striker Combo, TO6 Trigger

FedEx delivered today and I love it. I was expecting a completely dry spring and it appears to be pretty well lubed with a grease and also had traces of oil at all joints. I still placed 6 drops of spring oil on the spring and 3 drops of compression chamber o in the compression chamber. To dark to really do any shooting but I did shoot 3 pellets and hit an old soccer ball in the yard at about 35-40 yds in the dark without any sight allignments. Seems to be very solid and has a great feel to it. I love the wood over composites any day. After I played a couple minutes I started mounting the scope and everything was going great until I tightened rear ring mount and the screw broke right though the bottom of the top half. I looked at both top halves and it appears the rear one was drilled to deep the bottom was only about 1/32 of an inch thick in the bottom half of what the front sight was. Now I have to either buy new rings or see if I can have the mount replaced. Either way I have to wait to use the scope. That will give me time to sight in the peep sight if I can get home in the daylight. Does anyone know what the warranty for the RWS Lock Down Mount is and should it be covered? I'll be calling the vender tomorrow. Or should I just replace them with standard rings? I have seen a few complaints on the RWS Lock Down Mount not holding the scope tight enough and it slips.

I don't know if you'll have a barrel droop problem, but if you do, the UTG mount made for 34's is the only way to go, now that I've tried one. Not sure about the warranty, because both of my 34's are old. Good luck- hope it goes in your favor.

IF you got it from PA send them a picture then call I am sure they would send out another...if not Umarex should stand behind it.  I have 2 of the lockdown mounts and the screw head should NOT pull thru unless you way overtightened it...which would crimp the scope tube which should be thinner than the scope mount cap screw recesses

I would line the rings with old style 3M Friction Cloth Electrical tape available believe it or not at Auto Zone...I found the Leapers Scope tubes a loose fit in the RWS lockdown mount without it

I have seen a few complaints on the RWS Lock Down Mount not holding the scope tight enough and it slips.

I have used the RWS Lock Down Mount with a Tasco Golden Antler scope on my 34 for over a year now with no problems whatsoever.

Congrats on the new shooter.  Just a suggestion.. you might want to hold off on putting any more oil into the compression chamber.  It's not needed.

Tom, I noticed the rings already had a tape on them so I was thinking maybe that was the RWS solution or maybe the sets that the other posters were made on Monday mornings and someone forgot to line them. I also saw a set of Leaper ring mount that looked like the RWS andthe Leapers were lined also with tape.

Lizzie, If I read the site correctly the RWS mount does have droop compensation built in.

I like the mount, I believe that it was just a bad milling.

I have two of the RWS mounts and both had no tape out of the box.  I swear by the 3M friction tape now use it all the time even if I have to remove and clean off the factory tape on mounts such as the Leapers one piece mount on my HW97

LongIslandHunter, Thanks for the oil information I was following a maintenance tip from anothe rsite that was referencing the dry shipping state on the RWS rifles. It looked like it had plenty of oil on the outside.

If it didn't diesel on the first 3 shots you are fine....

if you are worried about too much spring oil stand it on butt overnight.  The spring oil you want to get on the top of the piston so when you cock it and its forced up against the inside of the main tube that it is not dry metal to metal. 

Even the RWS Silicone oil will pop after putting it in.  As long as it is not popping still its fine

PA is sending a replacement. I hope it will be here by Friday evening. I am glad I made my purchase with someone that has great customer support. Way to go PA you have my business in the future.

Congratulations on your new shooter.  I have a T06 34 and it's a nice rifle.  My suggestion would be to shoot the rifle with the peep sight mounted until you get more comfortable with it and the action breaks in-might be a little easier on your scope and mounts.  Just my 2 cents.

They are really nice.  I've had mine for about 2 weeks and have put about 250 pellets through it and it is doing nice.  Shooting with a 3-12x40 AO BSA and am having no trouble with scope slippage yet.  You will enjoy it accuracy is great.  Hands down greater than the Trail I had.

I got my 54, with the T06 trigger about a week ago, it came with the UTG mount, but when Diana, when to the T06 trigger, they lengthened the dove tail, making the UTG mount too short. PA is sending me the RWS lockdown mount, and told me to keep the original UTG mount and rings. (is that customer service or what) Anyway, I’m a machinist, and wanted to get the scope mounted, so I modified the UTG mount to fit, and re-blued it with a black sharpie. I have about 100 shots though it and love the combination! It’s a shooter!
