It is 6:00 am, Monday morning.
I just received a phone call from “National Medical Services “, whatever that is.
I sang the perp a four letter aria, he will not soon forget!🤬

It is illegal for such calls to be made before 8 a.m. local time by Federal law. Report it.

I don't answer unknown caller/telemarketer calls. If it is truly important, they leave a message.

If it's an unknown number and they don't leave a message I block the number. If they know enough about me and need to reach me they can come find me.

Just for fun sometimes if I see spam on the phone I have a Echo show ( my daughters Christmas present to me 3yrs ago) next to me and I say Alexa red alert high and it plays the Star trek klaxon nice and loud with the phone next to it.

One of the many tactics in my arsenal is to engage the caller for a moment to make sure they are human and actually on the line and then blow an emergency whistle into the phone.

I am sooo rude to live telemarketers, then I block the number. The problem is, these folks have a whole range of numbers and ip addresses.
Reporting them don't do squat because they are doing it from off shore and the US laws can't touch them.

Actually, there was a time when all of the Caribbean islands were the same area code. There was so much fraud and the U.S. couldn’t really do much. Then Puerto Rico was given a new area code and the offending islands were blocked iirc. I was working with PR at the time so I remember.

I do expect our government to address this kind of problem.

Abusing telemarketers is one of my guilty pleasures. What I dislike are the computer calls. There’s no satisfaction in haranguing a machine. If I get a live one on the line I can go for ten minutes insulting the poor sap’s intellect, education, marital prospects, poor career choices,, vocabulary, accent, and grammar without repeating myself.

Some telemarketing companies require that their operators stay connected for a minimum length of time in order to get “credit” for making a connection. If they make too many “hot disconnects” (hang ups) they get penalized ( If you hang up there is no penalty for the caller.). When I get one of those on the line I settle down to enjoy getting a little bit of my own back from the machine.

I don’t think of this as being mean. I think of it as helping these poor people to ditch their dead end job and move on to something better.

The memsahib is even crueler than me. She has a pleasant and friendly manner but she asks very knotty questions to the callers steeped in Aristotelian logic.

I'm with you Sam i abuse them terribly male or female I really don't care if they think I'm mean or not, I'm old grumpy @@@ Vet and don't Wana be messed with on a phone. Bad thing now is Scammers I actually got a call from myself , believe me they wished they wouldn't have done that. David

Yep. I've had a couple of calls, from my number.
Best one yet was when my brother-in-law called me, while I was on the phone with him.
Craziest part was, it came up with his profile pic, as well.
If we hadn't been talking already, I'd have answered it.
