Breech options for 3622, 362, 22xx, 1322, 1377, 17xx, etc

I just started not too long ago with these Crosman guns, and their largely interchangeable parts -- this is a list of some more economical breech options.  Feel free to add to the list if you like.   All of these have the "forward" tiny screw hole located in the pellet loading path, not the "rear" location under the bolt.

I have the genuine Crosman steel kits -- they have dovetails and come complete with 2-piece bolt/handle (choose 22 or 177) and all the extra hardware and orings you'll likely need, but are very heavy. 

I also tried a couple ebay options, dovetailed for a scope, and have been quite pleased -- the first is superlight "POM" plastic -- very rigid and working well on my plinker 3622  3677.  I also found an aluminum version of the same breech, which I have not installed, but would be by first choice if weight and field durability both matter.  Both are just the breech with barrel set screws only -- supply your own 2-piece bolt/handle, screws, orings, endcap.  https://www.ebay.com/str/lmydiyoutdoor    There may be other sellers as well.

I had a Airgunmods 3d printed breech on my 3622 but it just didn’t seem rigid enough for a rifle so I swapped the steel breech I had on my 1322 with the plastic one on the 3622. Didn’t really notice the difference in weight on the 3622.

 I have two of Baker Breech aluminum. Both had to be modified to work as both had the TP hole too close in relation to the rear sight/ tube plug screw. Came with nice looking Stainless Extended Probe Bolt, did not come with a breech plug,. Before being modified to fit I would get a puff of air in my face until I opened the TP hole forward by .5mm. Also the rear screw hole had to be stretched to mount correctly.. not sure if theyr still made. But took some work for them to work properly. I would like to order one or two of the TKO Picrail Breeches.. looks fun.

 Ive got one came in a Chinese grab bag of parts…uses a 2 piece bolt that didnt come with… no plug…but did have the barrel grub screws….seems well made out of some sort of plastic…but I really have no use for it…………yet…call me old fashion, but I like the steel breech and weight has never been a concern…I like the lego aspect of them….good luck

On the Ebay plastic "POM" breech I did have to be VERY careful with barrel/tp/breech alignment, but was able to get it all together without any modification. 

I forgot about 3D printed options -- good catch  -- I do worry about the strength in this application -- but the weight is surely quite low!  Also it's the only one with a pic rail, and that seems to be the future.  I was in Academy sports the other day, and swear I saw an entry level air rifle with a pic rail instead of dovetails, though I can't find it now.

I actually like the plastic breeches, I just wish Crosman would make them out of aluminum or steel, with aluminum rear sights. One of these days I may take the time and do it.
Got an aluminum Baker big bore breech on my 362-25 project, it's a good one .
I've got a couple steel breeches, I like them. The ones on my 362 and 3622, I used the extended probes from the plastic breech. I drilled the back of the peened factory bolt handles enough to drive them out with a punch, tapped 8-32, and away we go.
I have a short steel Crosman breech with the rear screw hole and would like to buy another but can't find the receipt. It's been a few years and I don't know the part number. If anyone knows the number I would appreciate it. I have a couple builds lined up for the winter and I'm gathering parts now
Used to be someone that sold a hexagon aluminum one for the 13xx with bolt cuts on both sides, those were cool. Don't know if they're still available

I have a 362 I acquired second hand. It came from the previous owner with a Baker Aluminum breech.  I had to replace the TP seal and I didn’t notice any problems with fit or alignment when I had the breech apart.  It is noticeably lighter than the Crosman steel breech I have on my 2240.  It is also dimensionally similar enough to the Crosman breech that it will accept a grav mag.

Hey 3D printer guys!  Design us a plastic breech that will accept a cheap, common, and reliable magazine!

I have the Baker Aluminum breech and my only issue was the slot for the bolt handle being a bit tight for the Crosman steel bolt and my breech didn't come with it's own bolt.

True, but there is only one radius of cut for all the Crosman breeches.

They do fit the 13xx tubes ok, and are sufficiently tight, but I have always questioned this and wish Crosman would have machined two different radii.   It stands as it is since historically most tuning has been on the 22xx guns, and there are several factory variations of these guns and practically none with respect the 13xx guns.

Is this breech actually sturdy enough?  Looking at it for a 1322. Also can't find good pictures of it and wondering how the finish is.  It is rough looking with a lot of "hairs"?  I like the idea of a picatinny rail breech.

   Saw this thread a few weeks ago and wondered if Baker Aluminum breeches were as well done as my older ones from a few years ago. Some members posted in some threads that theirs had scratches or other flaws.   I decided to order another one for my 362 that I'm converting to 177 in hopes that it was just a bad batch. It came today and I am well pleased as it has no flaws in the satin anodized finish and my Mellon flow through bolt fit perfectly.  It slides the pellet right over the forward mount hole with no hang up. My barrels are counter drilled for 1/4" icemaker tubing transfer ports and line up just right with the breech port. As far as the end plug goes, I always use 1/4" black plastic snap in hole plugs from Ace Hardware secured with a drop of silicone glue to plug the hole since they do not come with one.  I think it looks better that way. I mount my rear sight on the barrel with a Disco sight mounting tube as I need them out there to focus better. Here is a picture. The breech came with a long bolt handle that I moved to the Mellon bolt.

That's pretty cool that Bakers breeches come with a long bolt knob, my big bore breech came with one. I've been using Discovery knobs in my Crosman breeches, way better than the kit knobs.
