Daisy 499 vs. 499B

I purchased a "New in the box" Daisy 499.
I paid what I considered to be a fair price, but maybe a bit high due to the "New in the box" condition.
I received a 499
B
The box is labeled "499"
The 499B is the model after the 499.
It is in very nice condition, probably is new, but...
I would have to believe that the value is affected as the gun does not match the box.
Am I wrong?

You can lead a man to water, but you can't keep him from urinating in it.

The model 499A is the model after the 499.

They might sound like a lot of work till you realize you only need 3-4 pumps for plinking.

Do any 499b's qualify as vintage?
Anyways can you post a picture of the box ?
What is the lot number on the gun ?
I don't remember when the date codes were introduced but I believe a 499b should be new enough to have a date code in the lot number.
It is / was common to see various Daisy models that were a different variant but only marked as such on the box and listed in the manual.
For example the all black 880 and the 880 with included scope technically have different model numbers according to the box and applicable models covered in the manual, but the guns have standard markings.
I am guessing that this gun was just made before they started to put 499B on the box.
