Ruger ( B25) linkage mod

I have just changed the plastic roller on the 2 piece linkage on my Ruger I lost the plastic roller so while looking for some thing for a replacement I noticed my Ball Bearing router tips are about the right size but they were 1/4 inch instead of 5 mm so off I went to terry bearing co they has a 5 mm bearing but the outer race was to big but that's easy to fix so I pin pricked the ends of the stud the plastic roller goes on and pressed the ball bearing on to the shaft both sides yes I put a bearing on both sides and my thinking was to balance the load of the cocking arm. But I did have to remove some wood to make a new shelf for the bearing to roll on since the new bearing is bigger in the OD size , It works very good the rifle is smoother to cock and smoother when you close the breach . Here are some pictures of the Mod. Howie1a

Hi Howie,
How did you keep the bearings on the shaft? Is it the original shaft? And how did you remove wood so beautifully in the new channel - was that by hand or did you have to make some jigs for your router?
Excellent engineering, btw!

Wow, nice mod. I'm guessing it would be difficult to lose the roller unless the gun was apart at the time, yes? it's kind of trapped in there unless something broke. I too would like to know what you used for a new roller axle.
Of course it is important that the roller (rollerS in your case) does not bind in the channel. Every once in a while, when I reach up to break my barrel, it hangs and has to be slapped again...and I've assumed I just didn't hit it hard enough. But lately, I've begun to suspect that the channel in my stock is just not keeping the roller close enough to the the compression tube right at that front of the channel...and allowing the cocking lever to stub its round toe. In fact there is a ding in my gas ram from that happening.
