Are you going to try and talk him down by $4?
Good Grief Man, don't negotiate to get $5 off unless deep down you really didn't believe it was the gun for you. Sometimes we sabotage ourselves on purpose that way. I've done it far too often myself.Only if you buy and sell a high volume of items will $5 or $10 off make a difference. I used to watch American Pickers on TV and thought it ridiculous to quibble over a few dollars until it occurred to me those guys sold a thousand items a year and negotiating for a few dollars off each purchase price really added up.I seldom find a killer deal on anything I want. Usually if I want something I pay for it (I flunked Negotiating 101). I've learned the sting of paying too much is forgotten in time and I'm left with only joy of owning what I wanted and that's hard to put a price/value on. The only things I've regretted paying up for are things that didn't measure up and I sold for a loss without getting any enjoyment out them.I had friends who enjoyed going to casinos. They'd lose $600 in a weekend and come home happy. They said it was the cost of enjoyment and they got their money's worth. If you want it, buy it. If it measures up you'll get your money's worth even if you don't get all your money back.

Then it's a done deal and move on to the next item. Could be years, decades, or maybe never to get the opportunity again to aquire something.Sure this may not totally apply to the gun in this thread as those do show up often... but how often in the condition that you passed on? Now you could end up searching for sometime for another one. If it's something you want, you won't sell it anyway... so it's just a sunk cost for your enjoyment 🙂
