New 880 Anomoly

At least a new one on me...........

I am posting this on behalf of member 4Hphil who may not have enough posts to allow posting pictures.This is a chinese made 880.
After installing a trigger kit the valve body is not being held securely in the receiver.
Pimping causes the VB to shift about 1/8" rearward.
Anybody know what's going on here??

the internal bosses of the receivers should prevent this sort of movement.....

I have seen it on a couple guns, including an 822 metal receiver gun.  It did not seem to affect power or accuracy but it seemed like it should.

A worn or miss-aligned VB retaining pin might do it.  Is the cylinder catching the frame notch?

Dunno. That would be the opposite direction.

4Hphil reports trouble operating the bolt..........
Is it is a relatively newer model I can't see VB wear being an issue.
I would think the plastic receiver would wear first........
I concur with Mr. James................shouldn't be possible as long as all is assembled correctly.

in the pic the back of the breach is showing in the bottom pic, looks like it is pushed back, which could be the VB pin not fully seated.... Just something to take a look at.  I suggest taking the receivers and stock off and pumping the gun uncocked to identify the problem.  It should be pretty clear at that point.

Thanks for all the input! I'm about to open her up. What is the VB PIN?
Also it seems to be just last few inches of closing the pump arm is causing the problem.

I need to see the slot in the rear of the valve body where it mates with the plastic boss for the large receiver screw.
That slot should nest against that raised boss and prohibit the rearward movement your picture shows.

Sorry, I'm experiencing some interruptis this evening on tearing into the gun. Didn't get very far. I'll update you tomorrow and try to take pics as you directed...

Make sure that the 2 pins in the trigger assembly are pushed in so that they are flush with the valve body on both sides.
There are short pins in the receivers that align with those to keep them from working their way out.
If your trigger pins are not flush, they may keep the receiver halves from closing completely.

You DID re-insert the 1/4" pin thru the pump frame and valve body/trigger housing, didn't you?

It is an identical pin to the pump arm pivot pin, FYI

Hmm idk about this pin?  I don't have any parts leftover haha! I do have another 880 here I will open up and see if I'm missing something. Anything is possible since I got no idea what I'm doing here...

Success! The pin was missing.
No idea where that went.  I always put down a towel to work on and have a pan I drop all parts and screws into. It escaped me somewhere and I'm too poor of a gunsmith to know a part was missing.
Salvaged a pin from another gun and all is well. Thank you thank you!

Mr. Trey actually pointed in the direction of that pin several posts ago...........he is the man!

Despite my inept reassembly, I am very pleased with the ronno6 trigger kit. It is butter smooth and breaks cleanly at 1½ lbs. Installing the kit was simple even for a dunce like me. Highly recommend this kit to any 880 fan.

 Aside from that slight snag, glad you get to experience that awesome trigger. 
There is a thread about where them parts wander off to if I recall
