Crosman 454, my first repair and reseal.

Hi guys I just finished my first air gun repair and reseal. I picked up this old Crosman 454 made in 1976 for $10 bucks on Craigslist and was lucky to get the case with it. I took it apart and found out it needed a new valve and seals. It took awhile to get all the parts I needed and I just put it back together a couple nights ago. I didn't get to shoot it until yesterday. It shoots great but the person that owned it before had abused it by tightening up the cylinder too much when it stopped holding air and I had to work on it a bit by putting it in a wood vise and bending it back little by little. As you can see in the pictures it's a work in progress. I did manage to get the cylinder pushing into the valve pretty straight but it's still bent. If any of you have any suggestion or tricks you have used to fix this problem I would appreciate the info.

Hello Bryan
I purchased a Crosman 454 this past Monday and it shoots but the trigger sticks and the CO2 leaks slowly.
This project is next as I just completed a repair on a Crosman 1377 Phase I that needed a new valve, piston cup and transfer port seal. Strong shots with maximum 10 pumps!

Hi Dale,
The 454 is really a easy gun to reseal and a fun plinker.
The part you need is the seal that goes at the piercing pin. You can easily find one. The trigger sticking is something you'll just have to figure out when you tear it down. It's likely something simple.

I realize this topic is years old but still relevant. I have been reading that the bent frame issue is a real problem. Carefully straighten the frame first. One fix was to tap/install a screw real close to the bottom, just missing the pin that sticks out for the right grip to attach to. Counter sink the screw and the grips are supposed to hide most of the screw. I will try it if and when I get a decent Crosman 454 or 1600.
