27,000 fps hydrogen powered (air?)gun!

One stage is gas powered, one is powder powered.

There’s a nice animation at the link it’s almost like a spring piston powered by gun powder. But with a kind of burst valve that I haven’t seen before.

Bummer. From the thread title I thought this was going to be some kind of
gun our astronauts would be issued.
