J-B Weld for Benjamin rear sight question....

Has anyone done as Tim McMurray at Mac1 does with gluing the rear sight on the 392/397 rifles? I'm about at that point now. Took the Williams sight off to put the factory sight on, but it is so far to the right it looks ridiculous. If you did it, did you just eyeball it in line with the front sight or is there a proper procedure? I'm guessing once I have the alignment where I need it, I just load the sight bracket (minus the wedges) up with J-B and place it over the barrel? Appreciate any help...

As it turns out, I didn't need to J-B weld the sight. This issue was on a different 392S barrel assembly, not my original 392S. I kept looking at the front sight post and it looked good and plumb, not leaning at all like my other one so I couldn't figure out why I needed so much "Right" adjustment. For kicks & giggles I went to my parts container and got a new sight assembly and installed it. Low and behold it shoots straight as an arrow now with the rear sight nearly perfectly centered.

How did you get the wedges back in ?
Did you pry the sight base open a little ?

On another 392, I did open up the base a little bit using Mac1's method on the corner of a vice. On this one, I filed .005" off of the base grips and it took only minimal force to get the base back on over the wedges. That wasn't my idea though, I read on here where someone else did that method too. I like this method much better as you can precisely control the opening, as opposed to whacking the base with a mallet on the corner of the vice.
