Hatsan 125 breach seal optional replacement

Hey my hatsan 125 breach seal went bad after a year so I used 2 seperate 3/8 o rings, I cut one in half long ways to til it was half a oring with a nail clipper then I put the 2nd one on top of it to replace the breach seal. When I did this the gun gained a little bit more penetration. It went through a full soup can and 2 litter. It’s .25 cal, it also sounds a little louder out the barrel. They were plumbing o rings too, now if anyone can give me some ideas on how to make a make shift piston seal.

Are you having trouble getting parts from Hatsan?
Another hack for the breech seal is to find some poly tubing of the appropriate diameter in the plumbing supply section at your local hardware store (rubber fuel hose works too).  Slice off a a short piece of the tubing and use it as a breech seal.

Been there done that.  Ive looked at 100's of like o ring places to find these tube shaped type seals and nothing ..   

I guess why the gun manufacturer can ask 8$ per each on them (+ shipping of another 8 bucks)..   its just seems like a gotcha item

To that above when new i mic the new seal dimensions and write it down so you inow more exactly what to look for in random tube or hose line.    It just dont last ad long as the factory seal..

If compressed and not tore you could shim under the breech seal to bring it back up for a better sealing..

A couple of wraps of waxed dental floss under an o-ring works well, also.

Yes, Hatsan tubular breech seals are frequently out of stock and disappear quickly(same day usually) when restocked.

I suspect, but have no measured data to support, that the tubular seal may "inflate" and provide a more consistent seal than an o-ring in the Hatsan breech design. Regardless, Hatsan has these custom seals made/molded specifically for their breakbarrels. That requires a tooling investment so their breech seals will NEVER be as cheap as common industrial o-rings made by MANY companies in millions quantities.

I haven't seen $8 per seal with $8 shipping and would not like paying that much. I've purchased my Hatsan breech seals on free shipping weekends for $10/5 seals ($2 each).

Shimming a "flat" and smooth Hatsan breech seal has worked well for me on several rifles.

I am always looking for good alternate seals so if/when I find some common/cheap polymer tubing that works as a Hatsan breech seal I'll post the detailed results in the Turkish gate.

edit: Making a Magnum piston seal is possible. I've turned a couple from firm polyurethane (Shore 90A?) for sub-Magnum springers and they have lasted for several hundred pellets. It was a lot of work sizing and testing, but factory seals were not available at that time. Don't want to make piston seals again unless there is no other option.
