Two more this morning

Same MO: 25 yards, standing braced on door stile. Both head shots this time. Air Arms S510 Extra FAC at about 28 FPE with JSB 18.1s.

One was in above the right eye and out behind and below the left ear. (That’s the bug eyed one)

The other was in behind the left ear and out the right eye. Popped the eye completely.

I have too much power dialed in; I’m blowing holes through the vertical plastic slats of the fence behind them.

Great shooting.  I agree 28 fpe in a 22 is plenty.  20 should be enough.  My Prod is less than that and works fine.  At 28 fpe you have extra for a long shot or a bigger animal.  Or you could reduce it and have more shots per fill.

I don't think reducing power on the S510 with the power adjuster wheel would do it, as it just changes orifice size. (not hammer spring tension)

I think I'm going to sell the S510, use the .177 Compatto at 13 FPE in the meantime, and use some of the proceeds from the S510 sale to get a nice moderator on the .22 Bullvenger.
