I didn't see a single deer while I was there today so I unloaded the chamber on a decent fox squirrel at about 35 yards before I left.

I'm at a loss for words on the gun/caliber choice, but since you had to clear the chamber and not waste a shot... Lol

At least it was a round nose, instead of a hallow point   

Hopefully you find your intended quarry next time.

Thanks Zack !!! Hollow point slugs from that same gun will destroy a squirrel, they'd basically blast out both front quarters of a squirrel like that, I've shot two different chipmunks using hollow points with that .357 and it will literally split them right in half when shooting them in the bread basket.  So far I've only shot two fox squirrels and a red squirrel with this gun using round nose and it basically goes right through them, both of the fox squirrels bleed out very fast with the larger hole in them.  I should have taken a pic of the last ones heart after I gutted it because there was a perfect hole right through it's heart.

Thanks Jerry !!! I'll be heading for the woods today again, I think the popularity of deer hunting has really picked up this year compared to the last several years, I'm seeing a lot more deer hunters out there.

 My boss was out bow hunting the same day Wayne, he texted me and told me I was not missing much. I may take the afternoon off and see for myself.  Our gun season starts on the 20th, but alas WI wont let me use a big bore yet 
 I may just get a WI small game lic. next year, and go to the UP for deer, it has been awhile since I hunted up  there.

How is the cocking force on the bolt action Challenger .357?  Should it be a side lever in your opinion?
