Discovery hammer removal

Couple of questions for you guys. 

Can I take the hammer out of the Discovery without having to take the top of the receiver and bolt off the rifle? In other words can I take the cap off the end of the tube where the hammers is and just take the guts with the hammer out.

Second I am having a problem finding my degassing tool for the discovery.  Can anyone tell me if I can use a standard bolt from the hardware store to use as a degassing tool?  If so can you give me the length and thread size?

10-32 bolt about 4" long would work as a degassing tool. No, you can't take the hammer out with the breech on top because of the hammer pin.

Yep thanks. I thought the pin may be in the way. Oh well hope it comes off. Lol

Good thanks.  Ha I just got some parts from him today. LOL  Anyway I have a BNM breach on the Disco.  Not exactly stock but the idea would be there.  Just an in general what I have to do thing.  That will help.  I have to replace the hammer.  Did a lot of work on her years ago and to be honest forgot how to take her apart to get to the hammer.
