1077 is done for me

Consistent predictable accuracy is above all paramount. If I can't hit what I aim at, whatever the distance to target it is a deal-breaker for me. For me 10 yards one single ragged hole at 25 yards 1/2" to 3/4" at 50 yards I like 1" to 1 1/2" groups. Don't always get that but most of my rifles shoot better than me. The only rifle that I will accept ragged 2" groups at 60 yards is my Evanix AirSpeed .25 semi-auto

same here. i can accept a 1" or smaller group and all of my pumpers and the 2400KT can do that easily.

I think you would be happy with a 1720T or a 1701P.

These guns are so easy to pump you might snob your 13xx and 22xx guns, I tell you.

im not quite ready to take the PCP plunge, but i have been looking and researching. 

Okay, so I cheat a little my friends that don't shoot a lot really like the cool looking 1077 rifle, while I'm shooting my modded 1377 pistol.
it's all in good fun. they think they have the advantage!

Bought a pair of the sometime back. Then found 2 of the 88g adapters nos in discount junk store and got a great deal on those. I really tried to like the guns but I found the same think that everyone else here found. I traded out the hangy adapters and sold the guns to a coworker to shoot with his grandson.

the fact that you were able to find not one... but two AS adapters in the same place at the same time is a miracle in itself. yeah, me too. i wanted to get that spark of happiness back so badly for mine but it just isnt going to happen. i have spent countless hours and way too much money and it is no better than it was before. there are just no more options to explore. maybe a LW barrel is what solves it, maybe not? for what one would cost... it isnt worth it risking spending more money for to find out. some air rifles are just duds from the start and sadly... this is one of them.

i am really liking the Marauder Woods Walker, not cheap by any means though. i have a lot of reading and researching to do before i step off that edge though, lol.

I think that trigger is much of the problem... The effort to squeeze it tends to pull us off target.

When pulling the trigger (double action style) does this also cock the hammer/striker?

Yes, it pulls the hammer and rotates the mag. Just like a double action pistol.

Never had one in my hands and just thinking outside the box,
would/could a correct sized flat wire spring be a better application here,
still has the power to open the valve but requires a lot less force to operate,
as compared to a coil spring?

I think that most of the heavy pull comes from rotating the mag.. plastic on plastic.
Like I said, I didn't care for the guns so I didn't spend much time diagnosing and/or improving.

there are three springs in the setup and each have an impact on the trigger. cocking the hammer / hammer release, releasing the sear, trigger return. the trigger does an awful lot when you pull it and all of these tasks it has to perform by pulling it make for a very rough and hard trigger pull. while pulling the trigger advances the clip by a mechanical plastic to plastic action... the three springs are also working against it. Crosman designed it in such a way that there are just no options for improving it. this is one of those rare Crosman ideas where they attracted the buyer by displaying a very nice looking air rifle with semi-automatic / clip fed / rapid fire-rapid load capabilities at a cheap price hoping that the fact that it couldnt hit the broad side of a barn wouldnt really bother anyone. i mean... just keep pulling the trigger and feeding it clips... sooner or later one pellet will find the mark, right? 

now, i have read a few posts where a very lucky few have got one of these and had decent accuracy, so apparently... there were a few decent ones, but mine was not one of them.

Trick to the trigger, besides compressing springs a bit , is work the trigger to where the mag starts to rotate from there is breaks OK.
