I've been a bullet caster for a number of years. There's a learning curve for sure, and some equipment that you cannot do without. But if one has a melting pot and several other basic pieces of equipment I wonder how casting .22 pellets would go? The hollow base design would be problematic and no doubt casting would be a tedious task, but are there any folks here who've tried rolling your own pellets? I've never seen dies either for that matter. Maybe commercial pellets are pressure injected into large scale molds? I can't find any "how we make them" type videos online either. I do see a casting mold line on some pellets I've examined. So I'm guessing the molds are two piece affairs. Would really be interesting to see a manufacturer's equipment in action. I cast up a bunch more wad cutters this morning for my pistols mainly. I just put my long johns on and am going to head for the woods, I'll be shooting my Benjamin Cayden shooting my cast 23 grain "Magnum Hunters"
