So my Rex .50 should be here tomorrow. Picked up some 235 grain .495 slugs off eBay, but pickings are slim right now. Decided to start casting some. I've got lots of lead casting equipment from many years of pouring my own weights and jigs. Just need to clean out one of my pots and swap out the wheel weight lead with some pure soft lead. So far I've got Lee molds on the way for .495 round ball and 250 grain REAL slugs. Will probably pick up a couple more molds if I find something I want to try. Need a bullet sizer also. Who else casts .50 for an airgun? What molds do you recommend?
Thanks,
Nathan

A couple of pointers:
1) Size the REAL bullet upside down as the driving bands are orientated the wrong way ie. biggest at the top as it is a muzzleloading bullet. Sizing bottoms up will help it center in the sizing die!
2) Add some 2% tin to your lead, it will greatly help in mould fillout and add very little in regards of pellet/bullet hardness.
Look at the bottom of the page for a plethora of .495" airgun bullets.

Spent a couple hours tonight casting some projectiles with the two Lee molds. Finished up with a couple hundred of each using ~10 pounds of soft lead flashing I picked up. The castings came out very clean and uniform. I'll try them tomorrow night in my Rex.
