Stormrider “breech screw” broken

My bet is on the M3.5-.6 screw.

 Does kind of tick me off….parts situation.

It’s a simple screw.  One that SPA has used under a whole lot of brand names (including Diana) and has used on 5 or 6 different co2/PCP rifles/pistols (all sharing the same basic breech/breech screw).


And yet, finding a replacement part is a royal PIA.  Been looking….not finding.

Been following...NOT asking how it’s broken..at least until now.

If it “broken -broken” like snapped?  Allen head rounded off so the allen won’t fit any longer?...or are the threads stripped, which could be the threads on the screw or the threads into the air tube?

The screw is broken, like snapped. This also happened right after I received the gun. Then I was able to replace the screw because Pyramid Air had accidentally sent me a replacement breech kit which included the screw.

I just got off the phone with a “support” guy. I discussed three issues with him. One was  the broken screw. His answer was that I should go to importer, Umarex. I quickly found that the importer is Air Venturi. And, of course, PA is the warranty organization. The initial email response from PA was obviously automated. It pointed me at various Crosman resources. I have responded to that email.

Last night I went to Lowe’s. They did not have replacement screw, but we verified that it is an M3. I ordered the assortment from Amazon.

If in fact, the 7/64”, (2.78mm), drill bit fit into the threaded hole, and the threads were good, that would leave only .22mm thread engagement between the screw and threaded hole.  That would mean that the thread pitch would have to be about .2mm.  Not very strong.  Seems unlikely.  Or perhaps the drill bit was not inserted into the threaded hole.  Just does not add up to me.

Under close examination with light and magnifier I could see that the threads were stripped.

I bought the suggested selection of screws from Amazon. The M3 5mm worked fit perfectly. I applied blue locktight and I think that I am back in business. I have 49 backup screws for the future.

PA finally pointed me to Air Venturi for warranty work. Air Venturi has not responded to the email that I sent yesterday.

If nothing else you should be able to upsize it to m3.5-.6 if needed.
