How do you gals & guys with multiple guns do it?

Well i guess i'll see tomorrow.  Meeting at 6am to squirrel hunt.  I would be practicing today but neighbors are all out. 
I do always bring a target to check my zero.  Maybe i'll cycle through a couple mags or until it comes back to me.

That's why my guns are all the same, different calibers and tuned to different powers but basically the same guns,

Operate the same, triggers are about the same,

I've decided to go this route awhile back,....and for other reasons too.

Manny this strategy seems well thought out and makes total sense, especially in your situation where at times where you only get that one shot...no time to be remembering how each trigger feels...

My guns range from a Russian TOZ-35 free pistol with a 2 gram trigger pull to a Nagant Revolver that practically requires a block and tackle to fire double action. In between are air pistols and rifles and target and sporting guns with all sorts of pulls. Basically, it comes down to practice, but the lightest triggers to take extra effort.  When I take the TOZ out to shoot I always dry fire it at least once or twice before loading it.

All my air rifles have the same trigger and they are all adjusted the same way. I hold all the guns in similar fashion. I can do pretty well with all of them randomly off the shelf but I won't get my best groups until I shoot one a while. Where I do get messed up is switching to powder burners. I instinctively artillery hold them which doesn't work well. I scoped my eyebrow with my lightweight 7mm-08. Ouch! Then I tend to hold too tightly when going back to springers.
I do believe the saying about "Beware the man with one gun for he knows how to use it". I was probably never so dangerous to local critters as I was as a kid with a simple pump rifle I shot day in and day out. As much as I love my springers I think they make shooting multiple guns more difficult. And my springers shoot as nice as anyones. I can see how cheaper untuned springers could really make things even more challenging. Then again I'm sure there's cheap PCPs with bad triggers out there to complicate things too.

Just take goods notes, record targets shot with what pellet,  chrono results,  hold peculiarities,  trigger notes.

I keep a journal for each airgun. 

Find a system that works and stick with it. Plan on shooting 20 - 50 refresher shots to re-familiarize yourselves .

Most of my guns have light, crisp triggers.  Some came that way, some did not.

The trigger on my 1322 pumper is a little heavy, but I just patiently squeeze it til it breaks on its own accord.  It is a bit trickier to shoot, but I do believe it's importaint to let the gun do the work, not you.  You have to be steady and squeeze slowly till the break.  Follow through during and after the shot cycle are importaint as well.

That really applies to any gun.  Just that the break is a lot closer and easily performed on most lighter triggers. 

In summation, I think trigger control is the same across any gun I use, so it's not a question of the trigger, but my ability to be steady and follow through.

Actually, I am always rotating rifles daily which require a shot or two  to "warm" up to each particular rifle, and then reassure myself the rifle is still shooting to point of impact, while using up pellets of a brand and going to another to "re-zero" the new pellet.

For example, I ran out of regular .20 pellets and started shooting up a back supply of heavies, and even though they weigh about 3-4 grains different from each other, they are both accurate but have different points of impact up or down with a shift laterally as well, in all my .20s.

Today I rezeroed my HW80 .20 to the Heavy JSB Exact Diablos after running out of the regular ones.

When you've got the same rifle in all four calibers, you can imagine the upkeep we multiple owners must do!

On the other side, since owning so many I can say the one and only air rifle I could "get away with" to do anything I want air rifle related it'd be the HW95L or R9!

But the 4 calibers have to be spread across the same rifle to really appreciate what an R9 or HW95L can do!  If you want to "specialize" in one caliber the R9 will do it.  If you want to get all four calibers (4 R9s) it'd be worth more than any other 4 rifles you ever buy!

With 35-40 air guns, I learned to use the spirit of the artillery hold. Hold it steady, but not firmly. This includes steady to the shoulder, not firmly. Learn to breath correctly & then just squeeze easy. I need to adjust some triggers, like the Crosman model 70. Way too stiff of a trigger pull for such a light rifle. Gotta change a spring on that one. Too bad my buddy isn't still running his hardware store over on the shoreway. He had all kinds of springs & in different tensions. Otherwise, you just have to shoot some targets at 25yds or so to sight in and familiarize yourself with it again. Besides having different styles/types of rifles for different duties. That helps narrow it down a bit. Hunting, plinking, pesting, bench rest, etc. Not to forget, which gun likes which pellet for the intended use. That should go without saying. Although my collection is getting to the point where I need a notebook for this. Sure would make a quick reference.

yesterday i checked the sight in on 3 of my rifles.  .22 Daystate Regal XL, .177 HW100BP-K, and .22 Brocock Contour.  1st up was the HW with it's very light, break like glass trigger.  2nd up was the Regal with it's trigger just a tiny bit heavier than the HW's.  then the Contour with it's non adjustable single stage hunting trigger.  1st several shots i thought the thing was broke!  all shots were from 25 yards and the scopes set at 6X and all the groups were comparidly the same size.  this confused me as i very rarely shoot the Contour at home, but it is my go to squirrel gun .   the Regal is shot less than the Contour at home and the HW is shot at least twice week. 


i tried going back and forth from gun to gun, and every time it took at least 6 shots to get acquainted with the triggers.  several times with the HW the shot went off as i was positioning my finger. 


i guess it's a good thing i don't have the collection of rifles others here do, or maybe i just need to practice more with each gun.
