Synthetic stock, how do you remove hollow sound?

From a Novice point of view... I did my Bone-Collector,
I thought about my Jeep and what I did to that to reduce the road noise.
I took some of the Noise Cancelling Mat I used for the Jeep, called Fat Mat, and stuck a few smaller pieces to the inside fo the stock, then I too some of the speaker Cotton (not the right name) but the stuff I used in my vehicle speakers, added that to the stock, not a stuffed condition but I filled the area.

When I was done it sounded quieter to me, am I happy with it... yes !

Spay cooking spray into the stock and then use Low expanding foam to fill it..

Having tried other remedies I'm going to try/use this as it makes good sense to me and will not make the stock too much heavier.  Also can be easily trimmed to fit.

I have used duct seal in three stocks. The weight also helped with the gun's balance as they were barrel heavy.

I just tried the "stuff with grocery bags" suggestion and it took about 5 minutes and seemed to dull the sound quite a bit. Well worth the try.

 Tell you what...have one hollow butt/plastic stock I haven't done anything to. Hollow sound from a stock impact doesn't really bother me,but am wondering if jam-packing shipping "peanuts" wouldn't do it.

I thought about that. I didn't pay but $65 for the rifle and I  can't bring myself to spend the $55 + $16 + shipping cost. But I  did go to that unspeakable place and look at it. Thanks for giving me that info in case I come into some extra money.

I use chopped up carpet pad if I don't want to add weight. If weight is not and issue I use silicone caulk.
If your gun is exposed to enough wetness to get the carpet pad wet then you're gonna have bigger issues than mold...

By son just received a water hose reel from Amazon.  I  was there when he unpacked it and it had a 12" x 18" x 5/8" sheet of closed cell foam. I cut strips and used a 3/8" stainless steel rod to pack them in tight. It definitely doesn't sound hollow anymore but it doesn't sound solid either. I maybe leaning towards plumber's putty,  I bet its dense enough to sound solid.

I resemble that remark!   Yeah it's wet down here in the swamp.  I sometimes wear chest waders to deer hunt.  I've had to wade through knee deep water while hunting on many occasions.  With that said I really am not a fan of synthetic stocks.  I  don't like the look, feel, or sound of them.  I've never had a problem with my wood stocked rifles and I tote them every where.

  The plumbers putty has tamed down some Hatsans that are very powerful, but have a huge amount of TWANGE , too !!

I use silicone caulk in Daisy 880 guns. It balances them out really well and the heft is enough to make them feel less toy like.
