Benjamin Fortitude Gen2 Remarks

A few months ago, I bought a Benjamin Fortitude Gen2. I absolutely love the gun -- it's amazing. Even compared to my MROD in .22, I actually like the Fortitude more.

I can get ~120 shots (lucky me I got a ton of magazines) before it's not happy at 25 yards. I haven't messed with the regulation on it, only because it's set perfect. In it's current setting I can easily go out ~125 yards and snipe clays and put solid holes on target (barring it's not too windy) -- only need to go up ~3 MRADs (UTG Hunter 9x40 scope) to account for drop at this distance. This is using cheap 14.3gr Crosman Hollowpoints.

I mostly shoot between 35 and 50 yards and the Fortitude does one mighty fine job at shooting.

I have to say it's likely up to ~8,000 rounds now and it works perfectly. Tonight I just got back from shooting about 150 rounds with it and it gets used about 3-4 times a week.

One of the major factors of the reason I like the Fortitude is the fact I can get more lead downrange before having to fill it compared to my MROD. It's also got the same accuracy as my MROD from what I can tell. Sometimes the person pulling the trigger is just not always right on target.

All in all, for the price of the rifle and what it can do, I highly recommend it. Especially an addition if you already have the MROD.

I too am a relatively new owner of a Gen 2 Fortitude. For me, it’s a great backyard gun that I can shoot at 25-35 yds without disturbing the neighbors. It’s also been good to take out a few nuisance woodchucks this year. I have been shooting it from 3000 psi down to 2000 psi which equals about 75 or 80 shots. Mine really likes H & N Field Target Trophy pellets. I’m an air pumper so it takes about 60 pumps to recharge to 3000 psi. I love that pumping it is a breeze for me and it is efficient in its use of air.
 
Chuck, what psi are you shooting down to to get 120 shots? I’m just curious.

Nice! Yes it is quieter than the MROD.

80 shots takes me down to 2000 PSI and at 120 it's right before the yellow, so like maybe 1100-1200 PSI. I don't bring it any lower, because its a lot of pumping even with a HILL MK4 pump.

I've shot all kinds of pellets and even slugs through it. I'm not sure if I've run the H&N Field and Target Trophies in it yet; likely yes, but I don't know off the top of head.

Only reason I've been shooting the Crosman HP pellets is because I've got an absurd amount of them, yet I keep buying more to replace what I shoot. lol It's a vicious cycle. (My friends all tell me I must keep Crosman in business!)

Tomorrow is going to be nice out, and I'm sure I'll run another 100 or more rounds through it if I get time. Trying to take advantage of the nice weather before old man winter shows back up...

Thanks for the info. It’s nice to know that if I want to keep going I’ve got another 40 shots in it. I always wondered what the max was. Crosman HP are probably the second favorite pellet of the limited number I have had a chance to try.

I feel the same way about gettin in my shooting now. That old man is comin and we know what he brings. I envy those down south who can shoot year round.

what slugs did you spit out that thing !  they did not get stuck in barrel ?  what was the fps ,300 fps maybe with slug ?

going to wally world and getting me some of those 14 grain 100 yd pellets  , Maybe my search is over for the magic pellet...COOL !!!

I used the JSB Knockout slugs. They were accurate at 50 yards to my liking. Not sure on the energy. I don't have a chrono - yet.

I've also run these in my Gamo Magnum 22 on occasion. Only bought one tin of them, and have went through about half of them.

Haven't tried the Pile Drivers or the Rabbit Magnums yet.

I get my Crosman 22 HP's from Amazon when they have them for ~$6.50 a tin of 500. I usually pick up 5000 rounds a month during the summer months...

What size Knockouts are have you been using .216 or .217?   I have had good luck with the FX 22 grain .217 cal slugs. 

My gun really likes JSB's especially the 18.13's and the Hades.  I mostly shoot CPHP's because they are good enough and very inexpensive compared to the JSB's.  Generlly I shoot 3K to just below 2K because I hand pump.

I don't own one myself...but my friends and family know me for shooting airguns and when  2 of them recently came into market for an airgun for hunting/pesting/enjoyment, my best reccomendation was the gen 2 fortitude.

They both purchased one which I helped them clean the barrel, find the pellet it likes and tune for shot count and power. They are both blown away by how awesome the gun is and I think it is an excellent starter gun or "non enthusiast" platform for someone who wants a gun to pickup and shoot well.

I want one for the shotcount as a medium range bird/pest whacker, but would definitely want a better stock and trigger if I did. I got spoiled by my daystate there

The stock I'm still using, trigger I updated to a m-rod and it's a world of difference.

I use my Gen2 Forti with a wide range of pellets- from 14-grain wadcutters up to the heavy NSAs... it works well with everything.  I've made a number of HOSP kills using the RWS Meisterkugeln wadcutters, but for longer rang, I really like Sniper Lights, Mediums, Coal Fenix Domes, FTTs, JSB  Heavies, CP Domes, RW Superdomes...  Well, pretty much anything under 16 grains.  I have tried JSB Ultra Shocks and though they hit like a ton of bricks (25.39 gr in .22), I prefer saving the Ultra Shocks for important shots like killing squirrels.

Crosman hit it out of the ballpark, and I definitely have a good barrel on this one!
