How would you mod this Daisy 99 stock?

I had my vintage Daisy Model 99 circa 1960 resealed and it's shooting like new. However the pull is too long for the grandkids and they have to tuck it under their arm. The wood and metal are in pristine condition.

Should I:

• Cut the stock?
• Buy/make a shorter stock?
• Cut the stock and install an adjustable butt pad to grow with them?
• Other?

Just make a shorter stock.
Once they grow older they'll need a longer stock.

The other option would be to just get a $20 daisy 105 Buck and save the 99 till theyre big enough to use it.

Geez, that Buck 105 cost less than some eBay options. That opens up another option. Are the stocks from other Daisy models compatible or near compatible with a little woodwork?

I'm fine with putting a smaller stock on now and returning it to original later. Come to think of it, I have a family 1st gen Red Ryder coming my way and will have the same problem. So how interchangeable are other models? TIA

The stock off an old 102 cub ( basically the predecessor to the 105 ) wi probably drop right on , except the Red Ryder uses a curved lever.
The 99 obviously has the wider receiver and thicker stock, a model 95 stock should fit but though relatively short would probably also need to be cut down.

UPDATE: The model 95 stock from bantam5s arrived and I set to work on it. You can see in the photos, it differs in shape a little and is about an inch shorter. My 5 and a half year old grandson's forearm measures 11". However the bit that connects to the metal part of the gun is identical to my Daisy Model 99.

After researching adjustable stock designs, I opted for a simple approach that let me assemble the size stock from parts made to go together. First step was to cut an inch off the butt which brought it to 11.25". Next I found some old 3/8" thick pine from the 1940's that had a nice weathered look to it and I built a prototype butt plate using a flush trim router bit followed by a 1/4" roundover bit around the edge. That put the stock a little over 11.5". After sanding, I stained it with a coat of cherry then a coat of espresso to get a matching look. Later when I need longer, I can attach the original cutoff. And eventually, put the original OEM stock on for another inch.

My question is when you look at the stance my grandson is forced into, should I take another 1" slice off?

The stock looks longer than his forearm, so I'd say taking a bit more off would be a good idea.

Btw I have those same PRATT - READ screwdrivers and they're great, they make excellent screwdrivers and the value can't be beat.
