Ballistol...... works great...... Smells sorta bad.....

I have a rack that is rubbed with tung oil.  Smells up the tool room.  I'll take Ballistol over tung oil.  But not by much!

Ballistol is definitely funky smelling. Does smell like feet. The smell goes away quickly. Works on metal, wood & leather. Plus, it’s safe.

I use it often ,never really noticed the smell maybe I've had the cronovirus all this time. That stuff is expensive though.

I buy the liquid version. Definitely cheaper than aerosol.

 To me it smells like those big black “stink beetles” with a touch of brown sugar follow by suttle nutty notes 
It has been my favorite general purpose gun cleaner/lubricant for many years. Great stuff!

Other wise I couldn't explain why folks eat blue cheese, oysters, chitterlings,  scrapple,  brussel sprouts, cabbage, sardines, old leatherwork, etc. None of them are inviting unless you have smell associations.

Something about (firearms related) about Hoppe's#9,fired paper shot gun shells, real black powder smoke.

Doesn't bother me.
I don't like the smell of used gear oil, especially if it is burnt.  I really do not like the smell when my wife roasts bell peppers. Yuck!!!

I have never smelled it but I went to my local gun store to buy some the other day and the guy at the counter said, " My in house gun smith absolutely refuses to use that stuff, its garbage, don't believe all the online stuff you read" He tried to sell me some Venom stuff but I said no thanks. LOL
