An observation

when i open Show unread posts since last visit and there is more than 1 page, sometimes the second page only has a few posts, but most of the time it has all the posts from the 1st page and then the few that didn't fit on the 1st page.


an example would be...14 posts on page 1 and 3 on page 2.  to me, this is normal.  but more than not it's 14 posts on the 1st page, and then 14 on the 2nd with the 1st 3 posts replaced with the 3 posts that didn't fit on the 1st page. 


anyone else experience this?

I'm not sure I understand the question.  If I take your example of thirteen posts on the first page and three on the second for a total of sixteen unread posts, I find if I start reading posts the second page may disappear entirely as the overflow moves to the first page.  Read posts do not seem to reappear or something.  When I log out I do mark all posts as read.

Once I read a post and then click the back button that post continues to show. If I read a post and then click all unread post that post does not show.

I'm not real sure why anyone would click on "Show unread posts since your last visit" since that generates a list of all posts from all gates without any indication of the gates within which individual posts appeared.  I am not interested in all gates, nor in all posts in a given gate.  Instead, I look at the two sheets of paper in the column at the left of the gate titles in which I am interested to see if they are highlighted, showing that there are new posts in those gates.  If so, I open a gate and look at thread titles and only open the ones in which I am interested.  That means I am only looking at a few titles in a given gate instead of looking through a rather large list of titles to try to find ones of interest.  That seems more efficient, particularly when the list is likely to be more than one page long and one may encounter problems as described by the OP.  Am I wrong?

A couple differences here:
The ones on Page 2 are all different than any on Page 1.
And by actual count, I have 25 threads listed on a page.

for you? no.  for me?  yes.  i don't look for specific posts.   i like to see all the new posts in all the gates.  there may be something that spikes my interest, or shows me something i have no knowledge about. (like most things)

i used '14' as an arbitrary number, i've never counted how many are on page 1. 


to clear things up, let's say each page can only display 5 threads, but there are 7 new posts when i click on 'show unread posts since last visit'.  this is what i get.




page 1.            so....what did you shoot today?
                       Got jokes?
                       i shot my chrony!
                       hello from new england!
                       big brown truck stopped by today




and the second page would look like this...




page 2.            i shot my chrony!
                       hello from new england!
                       big brown truck stopped by today
                       help with tuning a pcp

this doesn't always happen.  on rare occasions there will be '5' on page one and the last two on page 2.


i'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or is my computer working against me?
