Vortek outer sleeve failure HW95

Has anyone experienced a failure of the outer sleeve/guide? I recently installed a PG2 HO kit in my HW95. I ran about 150 shots through it before opening it up again to compare it to an ARH kit. Below is what I found, any similar experiences? I'll probably just cut that part off, but wondering if it will continue to crack...

Aside from being very loud (105 decibels) the fps and consistency were not impacted.

Yep, the first PG2 kit I bought for my R9 "grooved" like this a few years ago.........
 
The issue was that the sharp edges of the cocking shoe (old design) sliding over the outer guide wearing away the plastic and I caught the wear early after the installation when I did a "look see". My soultion was to hone away the sharp edges of the cocking shoe and there was no further damage for the life of the spring kit. The spring kit held up pretty good for 2500 shots, however before finishing a case of CPL my muzzle velocity had dropped 70fps from 950fps when first installed to 880 fps 4500 shots and 3 months later.

Back when I installed the early kit I was asking other field target springer shooters if they tried the Vortek kits and those that have mentioned short spring life like I had.

Anywhoo....it seems that the Vortek spring kits have changed a lot since I bought the early PG2 kit so perhaps the metallurgy has also improved............

I'm sorry to tell you that happened on assembly. I have 4 PG2 kits and a PG3 kit in multiple Weihrauchs. You crushed the end compressing the assembly. My PG2 kit in my 95 is still in perfect condition after making around 15 fpe for 3+ years. If you need help pm me. I have lots of experience with these.

Ed and Ron - thank you for your input. After looking at the damage more closely I believe you are both right. Although I was careful during reassembly I think its possible that I compressed the end-cap too much, causing the sleeve guide to buckle into the cocking shoe. Another possibility is that I over-cocked it causing the shoe or piston to crash into the outer sleeve. Glad I took it apart
