Anyone chop the barrel on their Patriot/Kodiak?

I don't think I could ever bring myself to having the barrel chopped on my Kodiak because I don't like doing irreversible operations like that. However, I feel like the long barrel on the rifle contributes to the inaccuracy.

But I still wonder if anyone has chopped their Patriot/Kodiak barrel or know of someone who did and how that turned out?

I have not chopped a Kodiak or Patriot barrel! due to collectability but I have chopped every break barrel HW air rifle I own! IMO if ur planning to keep the rifle? do as u will if you can do the job correctly? Their is a member here WHITEFANG who can do the job right if that's what you intend to do! IMO as well I would just sell the rifle as is and buy something else unless like I said u plan to keep it forever JMO

I know that MikeM (airgunstocks.com) clipped off a few inches of his .25 Kodiak about 15 years ago.
It become very difficult to cock but it was a shooter..

Thanks for the replies y'all. Yes, I'm hesitant to chop the barrel because of the collectability factor. Its why I bought it in the first place. I'm mainly asking out of curiosity. I can see how the cocking effort would be increased with a shorter barrel. At the same time, it seems the rifle would be more accurate if the barrel was shorter. So, I was wondering if someone had chopped the barrel and if they found the rifle to be more accurate afterwards.

I have my .25 cal Hatsan 135 to compare to and it has a much shorter barrel, is more difficult to cock, but its also much more accurate and I'm pretty sure its more powerful too but not by much. My Hatsan is the rifle I'd take hunting. The Kodiak stays home and looks pretty. So, there's not much chance I'll actually be chopping the barrel.

Here's some things to think about? have u checked the crown to make sure its uniform? if that's good? u might inspect the rifling, if all is well? I would try lapping the bore to smooth it out! I do agree the shorter barrel length would get the pellet out of the barrel quicker before other effects like recoil could effect accuracy, longer barrels IMO do not aid in accuracy or velocity in a spring gun if you keep it @least 10'' in length, long barrels only aid in cocking effort and give a longer site radius if using iron sites! If u can handle a stiffer cocking effort IMO the rifle with a 14'' barrel would be ideal IMO!!!! my 2ct

The rifle's previous owner had it professionally tuned. So, there's nothing more I can really do other than chop the barrel which I am extremely hesitant to have done.
This rifle is a smooth albeit powerful shooter.
