The other one was in its original Daisy box and was awaiting my pick up with my name on the box. I extended the LOP on both and added 753 sights on the MC.Nice looking shooters! Where did you source the 753 sight?

Where did you source the 753 sight? Thanks. My 753 sights, rear and front, came from Daisy but I don't recall them costing some $50 dollars, but that was a few years ago? The front sight and weight are required for the rear diopter to work properly.
This raises a new question. If the CMP 853 price is 105 plus shipping and probably very well used(read stock beat up) and the 753 sight and weight is purchased, I have close to 200 in it.Why not just get a new 753 for 217$ off Amazon (synthetic stock)? It also has LW barrel. Who would do that and for go the 853?

Neither of my CMP 853's were 'beat up' nor otherwise marked. Inasmuch as the Monte Carlo was blister wrapped in an original Daisy box, I question whether it had ever been issued? OTOH, I have seen photos of some that were, shall we say, somewhat weathered.
I recently ordered two of them. I wanted both with Monte Carlo stocks, but that wasn't what I received (I have one of each)I prefer the MC- it's larger and feels more solid, plus has a nice cheek rest. It was packaged as well as any gun I've ever ordered (nice large rifle box with foam surrounding the guns.

Would be interested on your opinion of the triggers. I have read that sometimes an 853 will arrive with an already modded trigger,

Same stock as the 953.I actually like that stock, because it is heavier than the wood stock. But if you are shooting in HOT climate, I think the wood stock is preferred, as the composite could flex.
Looked at the one I have down in the shop this morning. It's the red 953 like the one Snap On sold or gave away with the tool box. Someone has the barrel stuffed real good with pellets. At this point, it's a complete parts gun that needs a barrel... I don't have the desire to fool with it.
