MUST DO - Disco/2240/Maximus Hammer Spring Adjustor

Im sure many people have done this but it was a MUST DO for me (I wasnt going to do it but I had to).

I was switching around barrels to put my Maximus .177 barrel on my Discovery for "Sparrow Season" to take advantage of cheaper pellets, use less air, etc.  A couple  things broke on me.  I used a 10-32 long screw to degass and when backing that out it hung up, the head broke off then the rest broke off in my vise and I was left with an inch on one side and .25" on the other. Of course the dang 4-48 screw stripped also!

So I put it in the lathe and drilled it out with the center then a 21/64" drill bit and tapped it for 3/8-24 because I had these long set screws that I purchased for a different one of these (extras when I needed them).  I turned down almost 1/2 of the screw to fit inside the spring for a guide.

This seems to be the perfect size because you can take the set screw out and access the spring (great!).  This 177 will now be good for back yard pesting and hunting if I so desire.  I thought I'd share it with you (Im sure you know).

Yes, must do! It's a great idea to have a 3/8 opening to get the spring out without disassembling the whole thing.

Yeah I read it when it was one page and I got down to your Amazon link and then got lost on Amazon.  Like you I get looking at parts that have nothing to do with airguns but would be perfect for some part.

I do need an SSG so I can maximize my shot count and I think your design is great.  I didnt understand till looking right now.  You need to market that (or a kit) especially because nobody sells them and everyone is interested.  There is a seller on ebay (scottgfs) that sells 3/8-24  "weld-in bung" ends for stock car chassis that I've been trying to get interested in producing tube caps for airguns.   He already makes 80% fit ones for $4.00 shipped!  I used one of his smaller ones for my 1322 but I had to turn it down to tube size, square up the fit and cut off the end (inside the tube portion).
Here is the as purchased configuration. I don't have a finished picture (maybe tomorrow).
However it looks great and works well with the 3/8-24 set screw.  Not sure I really need it on the 1322 but I can max out my hammer spring.
