Edgun Leshiy owners, help push me off the cliff.

So in short, I have been looking to buy a Leshiy. I love the idea of the gun. The size is great for a back pack gun when camping and and for shooting at about a max of 50 yards in the back yard. What im looking for in a gun this time around: Ultra Compact(backpack-able), regulated, accurate, well made, bottom rail for bipod or grip, must be shoulder stockable, ability to make it quiet!

It seems like the Leshiy checks all my boxes. (if you know of any other guns that fit this bill please inform me!) Looked at the hw-44 but it lacks the sock I really want.

With that said, Im still on the fence as it is an expensive purchase for me and Im just looking to some good input to push me over that cliff and order it

Im thinking on .22 with the stock 25mm barrel. .177 may be an option as I have read its quieter, which is a must for me. Id really like .22 though for the better knock down power and like I mentioned, 50 yards is about my max needed range.  Seeing as the Gen 2 model is whats for sale now, how is the EDMU working for you guys? I have read a number of posts that have loved it and some that have had problems. I dont plan on doing too much tuning to the gun. Depending on the power output and noise level, Id maybe back out the hammer spring and try to get it around 650fps, lessen the bark and get a few more shots. With the new EDMU is the regulator bar dropoff adjusted with the settings or do you still have to remove the reg and adjust from there? Who has added the DonnyFL extended shroud with the stock 250mm barrel. Its it really that much of a difference? Hard to find any sound test videos of it on in .22 or even .177. Also, who has filled their leshiy with a hand pump? I cant find any videos on that and hardly any mention of it in forum post. (please point me in that direction if you know of one) Some have said you can fill it in about 40-45 pumps due to its smaller tank. Would just like some first hand experience if its out there. Seeing as most of my funds will go int the gun itself and the DonnyFL -if its recommended-, I wont have enough to purchase a fill station right off the bat. Lastly, if I dont mess around internally or mod this gun, is it going to be reliable for many many months with proper care?  Im just nervous about buying a $1400 gun and it possibly having issues as I have read with some forum post.

It’s a unique gun and nothing out there can touch it performance wise. I have had a few issues with mine but I will never part with it. It is definitely not the easiest gun to shoot. The gun itself is capable of outstanding accuracy. The ergonomics of the gun is not. The slower you make it, the better it behaves and the easier it is to shoot accurately. I always hand pumped mine until one day last summer. We were having a shoot fest at my sisters so I just used the compressor that I was using to fill my bullpups. Wound up getting moisture in the Leshiy. It is nothing to hand pump a Leshiy. I have no clue why guys are dumping money on Donnie FL stuff. If tuned correctly, it’s very quiet. Save that money and get an extra 350mm barrel. The gun really shines with the longer barrel. It is even more quiet and actually starts to behave when you pull the trigger. I just looked at the stock reg that I took out of mine. You adjust it with a hex on top like you do with a Huma. It’s no big deal to degas the gun, take it apart and make an adjustment. Right now I have my Huma set at 100b and shooting 18.1’s 815fps. There is definitely a sound and recoil difference right around the 800 fps mark. If you are going to be happy at 650fps and drop the reg and hammer settings properly, the gun will be much sweeter than mine at 800fps. You could probably shoot it in a library and nobody would notice. I have only ever owned one gun that never had a problem with and I have no desire to even make a tiny adjustment to. Thanks for the info! That is just the kind of user experience I was looking for. So the hand pump didnt put in the moisture, the compressor did? What pump do you use and I assume it one with some sort of desiccant? When you talk about the behavior from egros, your meaning the recoil from such a light/compact gun unit? Gosh, Mayeb the thread I was reading was a .25 Leshiy shooting around the 650fps mark? I swear the guy said it was a .22 and was getting high 600's out of the box in .22. Your saying you get around 800. So you have yours with the 350mm and use the factory baffle? or do you have some sort of extension on it? I was thinking with the longer barrel that it would come almost out to the end of the shroud thus not having much room for the baffle to take effect. Its funny you say that about the Taipan. I was also looking at the Mutant short from Talon tunes. I was just surprised that that little gun weighed 6.7 pounds. Id almost consider the FX dreamline lite at that point being a pound lighter. Though...there goes my compact-ness.

Going to try to answer your questions in order. It was a humid day in Virginia and my compressor was working overtime trying to keep up with everyone that was shooting my guns. I noticed when I got home and was changing the little white filter that it was soaked. My Hill hand pump has a filter and moisture is never an issue. I can tune my .22 Leshiy to shoot 400-950fps with the short barrel. That guy obviously had his gun set to shoot 650. You can set the gun to shoot whatever velocity you want by adjusting the reg and then use the hammer spring to optimize that reg setting. When I bought my gun I also wanted the 350mm barrel kit included. It has an extended tube and I use the factory baffle. It’s all Edgun stuff and takes about 10 minutes at the most to convert from the short barrel to the long one. The long barrel is quieter and the guns harmonics are better but the gun is not as compact. Like I said before, the gun starts to get a little nutty after you cross the 800fps threshold. The longer barrel chills the gun out. If you plan to shoot in the 650-700 range, your gun will be quite nice. I have a Prod that shoots 14.3gr pellets 750fps. So it doesn’t make any sense to have my Leshiy doing the same thing. That’s why I have mine set to shoot 18.1’s 805 and 15.8’s 850fps. I don’t need a ton of shots per fill, I have bullpups for that. My gun is a chronic leaker. I just went to shoot it this morning and it was completely empty. 6 months ago I had a mystery leak and it wound up being a bad gauge. The good thing is the gun is a dream to work on. Very simple.

Lol, that guy was me. I was new to the gun and the gun new to me. I now believe that the hst was fully backed out from edgun, not a big deal. As I have grown to enjoy my leshiy I purchased the 12 ftlbs huma kit as I like the close quarters silent niche it fills set up that way. Plus with the Huma kit your shot count goes through the roof. I really don't have much to say about these guns shooting <700 fps because I have never tuned mine to shoot that hot. But will add that I don't  see me ditching mine any time soon, I mostly leave it in my "go bag" in my cars trunk and it never looses a bar when sitting for weeks on end. And is always spot on when it bring it out for some target or pest shooting. Just figured I'd add my 2 pennies.

Edit: Pelletjunkie, I'm sure you may have tried already in regards to your leshiy loosing air, have you double checked the " bleed screw" for minor leaking. And also is your hammer protruding from the back of the gun under hst preload just ever so slightly cracking the valve if you store the gun in the closed position with the hammer uncocked? Sorry to get off topic.

I just put it back together 10 minutes ago. I replaced some o-rings. I did check the bleed screw and the fill port before taking it apart. I just checked my hammer after I read your post. With my current tune, my hammer is not sticking out with the gun uncocked. It’s already down 20b while I typed this. Thing drives me nuts. I think it’s the o-ring between the Huma and the plenum. Mine looks flat as a pancake and I don’t have a spare.

Well after weeks of reading post on this site and others, Im still not off the cliff. Seems like there is a lot of issues with the EDMU and people having random leaks in basically new guns. Or maybe because people are more likely to post about it if they have problems so I dont see the good stuff lol?   Donny is sold out of the extended baffle kits as of 6/19. And I have seen a couple post that have stated that with the 250mm barrel that the extended baffle kit didn't make a difference in sound anyways. 

So I guess I would just get the basic gun and try to adjust it down to the 650fps range and hope that is back yard friendly enough for me. Also hoping I dont get one off the shelf that comes with leaks or problems out of the box. Ugh. Been saving for a new airgun with the compactness and features and the Leshiy still checks almost all my boxes. But $1400 is a good chunk of change for me and id be sick to my stomach if I had some of the reoccurring leaks and edmu issues I keep reading about and not be able to enjoy shooting it.

1 thing i can guarantee you about a PCP is it will leak at some point.   Usually just an oring going bad.
