Is it safe to rub BLO into a factory oil finish?

Hi all,
I have a UK Longbow in walnut with really nice figure, but the factory oil finish looks a little dry and thin. I want to rub some BLO in to get more depth without stripping or sanding what's already there.
Is it safe to rub BLO or any other oil into the factory finish?
Thanks for your input.

Hey Dan,
I've never tried what your doing, but I think BLO or Tru-Oil should be fine over that OEM finish.
The stock looks like it has a light stain added to it like AA or BSA rifles. I understand what you're saying about the factory finish, it can be discolored (ex. by a red felt pen) very easily because the grain is completely open. I would definitely want to seal it with a couple of coats of something.
That stock should really shine with a few coats of oil

Use the BLO, and wipe it down so you leave only the thin film that remains after wiping. Do it a couple times if needed (once a day). It will revitallize the finish without really changing it.
Tru-Oil is thicker and will leave a more shiny surface.
