Bulging Burst disk in YH?

Today for whatever reason my YH compresser was not developing high pressure air. It would not go past 1,000 psi.

I found a couple of leaks at the first filter and where the check valve screwed into the bottom of the gold filter. I fixed those but it still seemed to take a longer time than usual. Probably partly to the Wife asking "How many times are you going to run that thing!"

Anyhow to the point, I have read one of the first things to check is the burst disk. Pulled mine out and this is what I saw. New disk on the left, bluging one on the right.

Is this 'normal'?

I went ahead and replaced it, but cant really test it right now as it is her 'TV time' and she is already short fused from the previous fumbling around.

I had my burst disk go at 4K, I pooped and the disk had a hole in it. Replaced and blown the second one right outta the gate. I called PA and they said they had some quality issues and sent me some for free. I bought some more after that as well to have a few spares for the future.

I don't know if it was 'gone' or not but it sure was deformed!

Where did you buy replacements?

Mine came with 4 but maybe there is some without quality control issues?

PA sells em, Kinda pricey for what they are. I got a 10 pk from China too

So sorry for da mix up. check the measurements of the disk and see if they are the same od, thickness and see if the Chinese burst disks may work for you.

Mine looks the same way. I just ordered some extra's on Amazon. Came with a new bolt. They worked on my Yong Heng.

I'm not 100% sure it was the disk. I had developed a leak in a hose. Thinking it was the disk I removed the bolt and I noticed it was bulged. When replacing it the fitting holding the disk moved out of place when I tightened the bolt. I ended up putting a bad spot on the inside of bolt and it would no longer seal. Thats why I replaced the bolt. Here is a picture of the disk that came out of it.

Okay I understand thanks. Looks like this is normal then. Yea it can be kind of a pain to get that bolt and the little brass part that goes in front of the disk in properly. The little brass part keeps falling out.

As it turns out it was NOT the disk after all. The small filter on the HP output that came with the compressor had developed a pretty bad leak.

I am thinking I overtightened it when I replaced the filter element and ruined the O ring. It was kind of ragged when I took it out. Put in a new one and a little form a gasket, good as new. 5 minute fill per 'normal'. Hand tight is plenty for that particular part.

Not everything in a HPA setup needs to be tightened by a gorilla. Glad you found the fix. The Yong Hengs may develop some little issues here and there but overall I have found mine pretty reliable, almost 3 hours use on mine now mostly filling my 45 min scba tank.

My original tuxing blew a couple disks. I ended up just putting 2 in effectively making them useless. I always watched it run and never left it unattended so I wasn't worried about removing that safety function.
